Dialogues sometimes skip . Found a solution for WinXP (turn off hardware sound acceleration), but that's not much help for Vista. Any suggestions?

It would be great if someone could figure out a fix for this under Vista (or in my case, 7). Very frustrating!

The fixes already work on Windows 7.
There IS no "QuickTime.qtp" on Vista that I could find anywhere.
So to clarify, does this fix the audio dropping/stuttering problem, or just a movie-related crash?

Since XP does not have the sound stuttering issue, I can't confirm if it does anything for that particular Vista problem, it is only confirmed to fix the movie crash on XP. If the game is using QuickTime for the audio (somewhat unlikely), then it may help, but since I don't have Vista, I can't confirm that.
If Quicktime is installed, there must be a QuickTime.qtp in your profile somewhere. Since Vista replaced/changed the whole "Documents and Settings" deal that XP uses, I don't know where it could be though.

Which fix? The QuickTime fix (as mentioned above this post) isn't as straight forward for Vista (and, I'm guessing by extension, 7). There is no sound acceleration in 7.

In a few days, I will post the instructions for Windows 7. I don't guarantee them to work on Vista.

I have Windows Vista. I don't have the GOG version of Septerra Core since I have it on CD. I haven't tried to install it on Vista either. So you'll probably wondering why am I posting. Because someone asked where QuickTime.qtp on Win Vista is. It's in a hidden directory. The path is:
C:\Users\[Your Account Name]\AppData\LocalLow\Apple Computer\QuickTime

Many thanks. I'll give it a shot and report back on what I find.
Any update on this? It's driving me crazy.

I'm suffering from the same problem as well. I run SC on a Vista laptop. Let me execute this fix stuff for a minute. Then, I will report back :).
Edit:
Uhm, Okay. I can't find the qtp file anywhere except in the SC file itself. I installed qt alternative, but that doesn't fix anything, since there is no new qtp-file.

Sorry it took so long. We've uploaded a new version of the installer, which should fix the dialogue skipping problem. It worked well on our machines, but let us know in case the problem persists after you redownload and reinstall the game.

Good job. :D Though, shouldn't someone mark this thread with the SOLVED tag?

That would be up to Shuva, if he/she happens to check the thread again.
The new installer indeed fixed the problem on vista! Thanks GOG!
