Well, good news and bad news...
Bad news first. While it did seem to help, it was only a little. First, it wouldn't run in my 64 bit Win 7 unless I set it to Windows XP compatibility (I tried Win 98 compatibility and that worked too), then it seemed good for a short while, then LOTS of crashes. It seemed to want to crash whenever there was a new graphic or sound action after doing something right in the game. It was better though, as it wouldn't run on this machine for more than 5 steps before this installer.
Now the good news! I got to the end of the game! :)
I had an old save game at the Maze from another machine where it would run ok, until the maze then crash LOTS and I gave up. Since I was able to run the game a little better now I just saved after EVERY action, and after about 20+ crashes and reloads I was able to get the game over (the maze is pretty close to the end thank goodness!)
So, I am happy I completed it!
Hmmm... I was wondering about the old saved games so I tested it with starting a new game and was able to get out of the sanitarium/prison onto chapter 2 with no crashes. So, maybe if I played a new game from scratch things would be ok. I don't have that in me now to test that more though, but that test was pretty good, no crashes for about 10 minutes. I remember it getting progressively worse on the other computer the first time I played it though, so I cannot say for sure.
Anyway, thanks for the continued work. I will keep monitoring things here in case there is anything new to test...
