Hi guys,

We have updated the installer for Sanitarium. The game itself with the new installer should work on a wider variety of systems. Please take it for a spin and see if it works for you, we have tested it on all the major Windows flavors and it has proven to work but with all of the configurations available, you never know if there's something that won't halt the game.

We have, for now, added Windows 7 and 8 as supported operating systems on the game card.

Let us know how this new installer works for you. Thanks :)
Nice :) been waiting for this. Thanks!
Excellent! I will give this a shot on my Win & machine tonight when I get home...

Thanks!
If this stops the constant CTDs, I'll email you folks a case of beer.

Please save thanks until you all had a chance to take the game for a spin. Also, credit goes to our techs and QA for this, I am just the messenger but I'll pass on your thanks to the right people :)

Love the continued support for playin old games on modern systems.
Much appreciated.
Please send my thanks along too for the extra effort on this one. Glad to hear of this.
Urrrgh, just tried this new version and I'm getting all messed up colors, in both the movies and main menu, basically impossible to make anything out
Just the installer was updated and not the actual game data, correct? I haven't played it yet but have downloaded it and will run it via WINE - so I don't care about Win 7 & 8 support. :)
The first time I installed the game using the update, I ran the game and it didn't work :(

But I re-installed it (the first thing I tried) and it worked :)

Edit: I am now having a problem whereby it seems to work on the second attempt after a re-boot. The first time I try and start the game after booting up, I get a black screen with an hourglass, and it doesn't respond. I am running win XP.

It works the second time for some reason.

Try uninstalling the game completely, re-installing without using old saves and see if that helps you as it did for DarrenMcLachlan :)

Well, good news and bad news...

Bad news first. While it did seem to help, it was only a little. First, it wouldn't run in my 64 bit Win 7 unless I set it to Windows XP compatibility (I tried Win 98 compatibility and that worked too), then it seemed good for a short while, then LOTS of crashes. It seemed to want to crash whenever there was a new graphic or sound action after doing something right in the game. It was better though, as it wouldn't run on this machine for more than 5 steps before this installer.

Now the good news! I got to the end of the game! :)
I had an old save game at the Maze from another machine where it would run ok, until the maze then crash LOTS and I gave up. Since I was able to run the game a little better now I just saved after EVERY action, and after about 20+ crashes and reloads I was able to get the game over (the maze is pretty close to the end thank goodness!)

So, I am happy I completed it!

Hmmm... I was wondering about the old saved games so I tested it with starting a new game and was able to get out of the sanitarium/prison onto chapter 2 with no crashes. So, maybe if I played a new game from scratch things would be ok. I don't have that in me now to test that more though, but that test was pretty good, no crashes for about 10 minutes. I remember it getting progressively worse on the other computer the first time I played it though, so I cannot say for sure.

Anyway, thanks for the continued work. I will keep monitoring things here in case there is anything new to test...
