If you're dead and come back to life you must be a Shadow Warrior in Sacred 2.
Like stated above, the plot of the game has a Shadow and Light version, both incredibly paper-thin. Basically you just go from region to region, searching for information about T-Energy and the "Great Machine" and killing monsters that get in your way.
Each character also has their own special "personal chain quest" that spans across most or all of the game. There are also light and shadow versions of these for each character (except Dragon Mage).
These personal quests are a bit more compelling and fleshed out compared to main quest (for some characters). Shadow Warrior in particular has a quest that is bigger than the main quest line.
His quest involves being brought back to life by a Necromancer (Resurrection Priest), slowly regaining his memory, and ultimately forging a new identity for himself. He was either a former general (Light) or bloodthirsty criminal (Shadow) and his personal quest has him tracking down the Necromancers, regaining special artifacts from them, and eventually trying to repair a rift between the world of the living and the dead with a magical Resurrection Blade. And he fights a LOT of undead along the way.
