NOTE: This is for Sacred 2 - Gold (not the original Sacred Gold) Sacred 2 - Gold has been delisted from the GOG store in order for them to push their horrid "remaster." Just wanted to be clear on that.
Sooooo, I've spent HOURS working on this to no avail, using literally every trick I can find from Googling / scraping forums, etc, and nothing works. The game seems to be loading fine (with the initial splash screen displaying fine, with all it's mumbo jumbo loading properly), and then when the game is SUPPOSED to show the "Deep Silver" logo vid, it just hangs on a black screen (not frozen, the cursor is still displayed, and can be moved around freely), but nothing happens. Just, a black screen, for all eternity.
Mind you, the game worked absolutely perfectly on my system for MONTHS, but apparently some update / change on my system has caused this error (likely Physx or NVIDIA driver changes, though I have rolled back, done clean installs of both the game, and the Physx / NVIDIA drivers - including old / legacy driver versions, endless reboots, and nothing makes a difference). Once this error happens, it seems to be stuck that way for life.
This happens with or without the community "compatibility patch."
This happens with or without all the "run as admin" / -nocpubinding / -skipopenal shortcut and launch efforts.
This happens with or without overlays or directory changes (e.g. renaming the "videos" folder).
BEAR IN MIND, I hadn't done any of those elaborate "fixes" in the first place back when the game WORKED. The game worked just fine "out-of-the-box" for several months, so I genuinely think some botched / obsolete system files or drivers are lingering in in my Windows / Program Files directories, and I can't figure out what needs to go.
So, I'm asking anyone who's encountered this, did you ever find a way to fix THIS PARTICULAR "black screen with cursor" issue??? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
