Could we please get an official answer to running GOG version og RCT 1&2 in widescreen resolutions?
I've seen a couple forums, but haven't come up with a sure solution. The hex editor solution never works for me because I can't fin the strings/hexs.

Other than hex editing, no, because the games weren't built for that.

Get OpenRCT2 instead. It's also compatible with RCT1 scenarios.

So then, you're stating that the GoG version is unable to be edited via Hex/String like the disc version was able to?

No, I'm just stating that if that doesn't work for you (I believe Win10 handles RCT1 resolution changes poorly on its own, but it wasn't really fool-proof before either), OpenRCT2 is your only shot of using non-standard resolutions.
All right, thanks. I had not seen OpenRCT2 yet. I'll give it a try.
I am on windows 10. Then, you think it may be an issue with windows 10? Perhaps not an issue with windows 7?

No, this just has to do with the age of the game; widescreen resolutions weren't quite desirable yet when these games came out. We were still using CRTs with square resolutions.
Okay. I had seen a forum where people claimed to have successfully edited it through HexEdit and I believe I even saw a video of someone playing it in 1080p. Perhaps this is with the retail copy only.

1080p? That was definitely OpenRCT2. Some people equate that to regular RCT2 on YouTube for their own little dim reasons.

Hex editing can raise the resolutions to a certain point, but definitely not to 1080p.

Oooh, okay. That's probably it.

Then is that how you would explain THIS? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmeILc26TfE

Hi !
I'm personally using the french version from GOG of RCT1 that I modified to run in 1280x720, without issue.
If you've issue finding hex values, please see here : https://www.gog.com/forum/rollercoaster_tycoon_series/help_with_rct_1_widescreen/post7
Maybe it will help. I had issues too first, because I didn't knew anything about hex editors, and I made some "beginner" mistakes. Hopefully you're in the same situation ;)

Hope you'll get it sorted :)

PS : just in case, here is the page where I found the method and the values to edit :

Any luck with changing the resolution? I can't find the values in my hex editor.

No. I couldn't either.
I couldn't get it to work either. Just use OpenRCT as suggested. It takes just a minute to setup and it has everything you could ask for and more. Widescreen, HD resolutions, seamless alt+tabbing, and looks exactly the same as the original game as I can tell. And all that at a lower CPU usage. I'm glad the hex hack didn't work because this is even better.

I just used the in-game settings to switch to windowed mode, and I double clicked on the window title area, and it maximized the window to my widescreen laptop display! The game now looks much smoother (not pixelated) and it's really widescreen!! Just awesome!! (I did not modify the game in any way, I use plain vanilla GOG RCT, as installed, that I recently bought).

And use the 'Borderless Gaming' freeware FORK by mdbell: https://github.com/mdbell/Borderless-Gaming/releases to get borderless and fullscreen, though the game map does not scroll when the mouse is at the display borders - but use 'X-Mouse Button Control': https://www.highrez.co.uk/downloads/xmousebuttoncontrol.htm - to easily map the mouse wheel and buttons to what you please to make up for it: I mapped my mouse whell to PageUP and PageDown, and set these keys in the game to zoom in and out, respectively, and now I have mouse controlled zooming! I mapped my mouse wheel (button) press to HOME and use that to rotate the game map, and I use my right mouse button to rotate the construction object, but for map scrolling I use traditional WASD..
