Maybe I'm missing something obvious, but is there any way to reassign the controls is either one of these games? Having the left and right arrow keys dedicated to strafing makes these damn near impossible to play on a laptop keyboard with no number keypad.

I believe the official word on this is "No."
I think Weclocks right that you can't do remap any keys offically with the game. I had a thought about xpadder for gamepads though and then wondered if they had anything like that just for keyboards. It appears they do things like

I haven't used any of these sorts of programs before though so I don't know which ones are good or if it will even work with the game but its something you could check into.
Okay, so I figured it out and, for anyone else with the same issue, it's actually really easy:

Just press ctrl + F1 while DOSBox is running and you can reassign all the controls from there.

It's a generic DOSBox command, so I feel kind of silly for never knowing about it, but hey, I know I'm not the only one, so i hope other people find this helpful as well.

If you ever find the remapping tool of DosBox to be insufficient, there's a great little (and free) program called Autohotkey (autohotkey.com) that lets you remap anything you like to anything else with scripts and even assign macros or more complex key behaviours to keys.

Thats an intresting bit of information I was obviously unaware of. Thanks for pointing it out, I wonder what else dosbox is capable of doing.
