I've seen a few posts about it not working well on win 10. Is that a common thing?

More importantly, every single video I've seen of it has this horrible audio distortion when the characters speak, I saw one user saying he fixed it(somewhat), but is that something I'd have to tank no matter what?

I'm running the game in win8, and am also having the issue with character audio.
Would love to know of any solutions, even partial.
If none exist, does anyone have an idea of the cause? Old audio codec that doesn't really have the option of being fixed? Bad source files for the gog executables? It definitely interferes with the playability of the game.

I've played the first game on Win10 (on a laptop and also a desktop) and the game ran without any issues (gameplay and sound).
