I have gathered Black Hearts and Innocent Monkey Bones, gotten Hirutu to purify the hearts, and have eaten them. I have then tried to speak to my voodoo ally, but nothing. The quest will not complete. The quest markers seem to point to Hirutu, and the quest dialogue doesn't lead me to anyone or anything else.

Is there something I am missing or is this quest broken?

Ok, so I completed the quest, but only after watching a playthrough. Because this quest can be ploblematic, I wanted to document here what needs to be done:

Bones will give you the Black Heart Experiments quest. It is possible to have many Black Heart at this point and get them purified by Hirutu.

That would seem to qualify for completion of the Black Heart Experiments quest, but the quest will not complete.

I returned to Tacarigua and found Bones' "secret" chest with the Black Heart -- even though I didn't need it and didn't have a quest listed to get it.

Upon opening Bones' chest and returning to talk to him, a Bones Chest quest was completed (although it was never listed in my log as available) and then immediately Black Heart Experiments was completed.

Wow, that was maddening!

PB's quests and logs really need better care. It's astounding that there are quests that don't show up in your logbook and equally as bad that these hidden quests are pre-requisites for ones that are in you're logbook and look currently active!

This is the strange part, because Bones should give this quest to you as soon as you get your first heart and tell him about it. Also, doesn't that chest require a key? You must've spoken with Bones about it.

Yes, I did speak with Bones at one point and he brought up the chest, but it never listed in my quest logbook and I never imagined that I needed it since I already had four Black Hearts for Hirutu to purify.

It's strange that Kila is the only Island where I'm experiencing "quest issues."
