I picked up Risen during a recent humble bundle and so far I'm enjoying it. The combat does feel more difficult than in Gothic 3. I only found about the unofficial patch after I started my game so I have some questions about it.

Is the latest unofficial patch compatible with the steam version of Risen?

Does the unofficial patch change balancing in any way?

Can I apply the unofficial patch and continue with my current game or do I need to start over?

afaik yes.

Not really. Some changes are remotely connected with balancing but it isn't worth mentioning.

You can but there are fixis that wont work with saves.

Thanks for the response. I started a new game after I installed the patch. I haven't come across any problems so far.
