Come back to Risen 1 recently, and ah... the joy of combat.

I don't complain about the initial difficulty per se, but there are a number of annoying aspects that are pushing me to stop playing.
Just a summary, of what I found so stupid, that is fun, sometimes:

* Animals make some dodges (?) that border the teleportation. You are in for the perfect side strike when... puff, they are just behind you. And hit you so well...
* Enemies often time their perfectly to strike you that instant you nearly strike them, and you are helpless (this seems to happen randomly)
* Ok, you need to corner animals to avoid backstep, but when they are near a wall, you litterally end up into them. Miss them and they start attacking you.
* Hit boxes are just... crap
* Enemies have these kind of movements that remind of the "the ring" movie: they go from one stance to the other, so fast that it border the ridiculous
* How come you can't buy armors... that's just so ... annoying... and you have to pay for that, even after doing everything for one faction or the other. God...

Dodging: totally agree
Movements: ditto
Buying armor: what else are you going to use all the gold for?

Fighting seems to me an improvement over Gothic III.

It is just annoying that you can't buy armours.
Why? I'm even 3 Smith. Whatever...

And weapons are just boring. Damn... add some variety!
You spend points and money to learn smith, to forge, essentially, 3 weapons :D

Gothic III... I remember when I bought it on DVD on day 1.
I rage-quitted multiple times, because bloody boars :D ... the combat was just so much broken over Gothic I/II, that was a joke.
The whole game was a joke.
I should go back and give it a try with the community patch.
