Hi guys,

Im gonna start Risen 1 and go pure mage.

I read u have to be careful in the beginning if u want to become a mage - avoiding joining a certain facyion?

Can u please give some general advice on how to seamlessly become a mage? from the get-go?

Im gonna go fire only, as I didnt like the magic bullet. Is it ok or will I gimp myself a lot?

cheers!

If you want to be a mage dont join the bandits and the inquisition ..To join the mages you have to go to harbor town without getting caught by the inquisition...After you reach Harbor town do all the quests from Carlos and after that you will become a mage...Also don't invest in all magic...Pick one that you like. (Probably fire magic is the best) and maybe invest some little to another magic because some enemies have fire resistance.
also a good guide that will help you is here

Thank you! that really helps!
like any faction you want to go to the bandit camp and start doing quests there to gain experience and such. You can do many of their quests and many in harbor town before you choose which faction you want to do. So start off at the bandit camp, do what you can, then hit harbor town and do what you can. Eventually you'll have to decide which faction you want to join.

As for magic, many say the magic missiles are the best that fire etc are too slow. I never played a mage so don't know which magic is best but most say just missiles and ignore the others mostly because they are slow. Do some homework on which magic you want to specialize in.
I played a mage and specialized in fire magic, it was the one that suited me best. You must keep your distance from the enemies but I enjoyed liking it the best (slow but higher damage).
