Whenever I try to load the Extreme.RTL file via WinROTT, the game refuses to detect it and loads Dark War instead, even though the Alternate Game Levels option was set to the right one.

This is very frustrating and I want to play EROTT via WinRott so I have a slightly better chance than the DOS version.

In fact, it won't launch any alternate levels, not just EROTT.

I need help NOW.

I know this thread is old but I am posting this in case it helps anyone else. I was having the same issue with WinRoTTGL. When looking at the launcher's log after starting the game I Noticed it would say RTL not found and list a directory. But the directory it listed was only part of the full path. So I copied everything to the main folder of external hdd and put it in a folder named WinROTTGL. So now the path is D:\WinROTTGL\Extreme.RTL. Now it works flawlessly. So I assume either theres a limit on how long the file path can be or maybe there was a special character in the path that it could not recognize. Hope it helps!

I can't remember what the solution I used to get it working was but I'm going to mark yours as a solution anyway in case other people have the same issue.

Thank you anyway as that is very helpful.

Actually, I don't think the issue is due to the length of the directory, it's actually to do with whether or not there are spaces in the full path. Originally, I installed the game into D:/GOG Games/Rise of the Triad. When I moved Rise of the Triad out, it would still fail. Only after I changed the folder name to WinROTTGL, a name without spaces, did it work.

Odd issue. Is your installation also without spaces or did you figure something else out?

This solved the problem for me, thank you.
