I can't find any other topic where this has been addressed.
Every song in the downloadable soundtrack, except for "Apogee Fanfare" and "Boss Blow" plays twice, and is then followed by ~10 seconds of a third play fading out. What's the deal?

It's probably because being an in-game soundtrack, the tracks were meant to be looped. They probably looped them once to increase their length, then fade out because otherwise it would sound like it just abruptly stopped in the middle of the song.
The old game music files played once are abrupt when they end i personally think the mousc sounds better this way the old Apogee midi soundtrack included in the goodies pack or the old extreme cd sounds too abrupt the gog.com version blends better with the rest of my music.
I fully realise that the music is meant to be looped, but still, wouldn't it make more sense then to run the song once fully then have the 10 second fadeout? With the second full play, the full set runs to nearly 2:28 hours, when it could be ~1:14, easily fitting onto one audio CD.
Yeah, but then the song is over in 1:14.
I'd rather have them loop twice.
