Hello. I purchased Rise of the Triad (2013) some time back and only now got to installing it to play. However, the game will not run. I get to the loading screen where it says Play Game or Advanced Options. If I press Play Game, the screen disappears and I get the following error message:

... windows\system32\d3dx11_43.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.

I am running Windows 10, 64-bit, with all the latest updates. According to the DirectX Installer, I have the latest version of DirectX installed. I checked, and d3dx11_43.dll is in my System32 directory. I tried running the Rise of the Triad EXE file without the launcher and it still fails (same error). I tried running it in Windows 7 compatibility mode. Same error. I tried even creating a shortcut of the main exe (from the 64 bit folder) and appending the properties target with -dx11. Same error. I tried running the 32 bit version. Different error, but still won't run.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get this game to run?

Thanks. :)

I had the same problem.

Rott 2013 has dependencies that aren't made clear. You need to install these libraries from microsoft:
.net (3.5 and 4.0), and visual C++ (2005, 2008, and 2010).

Let me know if you need help finding them.

hey, could you give me directions on how to run rottr 2013 with these instructions? I'm a bit technically incompetent. For example, i downloaded the dot net 3.5 frameworks, but when I launch it and click yes and the installer doesn't come up so I'm not sure if it's even installed. Feel free to email me at rajasnagpurkar@gmail.com or pm me on discord at PropelledSplash#3712 to help. much appreciated brother, or anyone else who knows how to run this game on windows 10 in 2020.
also when i download and try to install c|++ visual 2005 service pack, it says its not compatible with this system
it also says error ahs occurred when trying to install c++ 2010 as a newer version of the redistributable has been detected on the machine

I don't have windows 10. I still play it on Windows XP. Besides suggesting those dependencies, I don't know what else to suggest. If it helps, I used the off-line installers for the dependencies. They're known as the "redistributable" packages. I found them by doing a google search. They're from microsoft, so make sure you're downloading from the microsoft website.

You'll may need to make sure you install the version of each dependency that matches your system. For example, install 64 bit if you have a 64 bit computer. If you don't, you need the x86 version (that's 32 bit). However, the game is 32 bit so you might need the 32 bit versions any way.

You may also need to run the game directly from the installation directory (not from Galaxy or the game launcher).
