Hi All,

I just got Rimworld and I'm trying to learn how to play. So I have started the tutorial, I'm at the stage where I'm suppose to cook simple meals. I build the store, the stove is fully fueled and yet I can't cook the meals because the game tells me some materials are missing. As far as I can tell, stove has everything...not sure what is missing. I have been trying the tutorial now for a few days but I have the same problem.

I've played through the tutorial several times and not hit this problem. I'm going to suggest a few things, none of which sounds like it's the issue based on how you've described it, but I'll offer them anyway:

Did the stove actually get built? (requires 80 steel)
Did it get fuel (the wood icon with a red cross disappears)?
Was it a fueled stove - not an electric one?
Did you add a bill to the stove to cook 10 simple meals?
Can the colonists physically reach the stove?
Do they have, and can they get to, the potato food that they started with?
The tutorial forces you to fiddle with the settings of the Work tab. Did you deselect Cook for all colonists?
Perhaps there's just one colonist assigned to cooking and they're busy doing higher priority tasks?

Has this issue been with just the one playthrough of the tutorial, or have you restarted the tutorial and still have the problem?

As I said, your description seems to rule out most if not all of what I've suggested. I'm by no means an expert - I only started playing a couple of days ago myself, but I thought I'd mention some obvious things as sometimes they're easy to overlook.

First of all things for getting back to me. As a new Rimworld player I really appreciate it. I'm just following the tutorial step by step. I built the fueled stove - I made sure it has enough fuel (wood). I'm then trying to cook 10 simple meals as instructed. The stove is built inside a room where my cook can reach it just fine. When my cook tries to cook the meals I get a message that some materials are missing. Yet I'm not sure what is missing, as the stove was just built according to the tutorial.

I have restarted the tutorial few times but I get into the same problem as before, my cook just can't cook the meals. I bought the game on gog because I wanted DRM free version - oh well.

Looks like I'm going to have to wait a bit before the tutorial gets fixed.

I am pretty sure that problem lies in your storage. Are you sure that all your food, meat, vegetables are in a stockpile? They also can't be in the progress of rotting.
Build a stove, create a stockpile zone with critical importance for food, create a bill for butchering and bill for cooking and you should be fine!
I suggest to try pemmican or packaged survival meals, but these require some in-game research points. I found a short guide on how to make pemmican. Check it out, because the progress is very similar to making regular meals. Good luck! Let me know if you have any other questions.

I just wanted to let you know that with the latest build I tried, the tutorial now continues just fine - without any problems. I was able to finish the tutorial. Thank you for fixing the problem. :)

I found the problem. you're clicking on the cook simple meal x4. that's not the one the game wants you to do. click on the simle meal x 1 and set that for 10 times. that'll solve the problem.
