The copy protection when you click "start new game" requests a word from "Rex's Logbook." This documentation is not supplied on GOG. It is not the manual nor the hintbook.

You seem to be correct. The original randomly asked for a word from either the logbook or the manual, so if you run the game several times, you should get a manual one you can answer. After that, the game won't ask you for the copy protection any longer. But if would be nice if GOG were to include it, since it also provides valuable information on the backstory. Plus, I lost my original copy years ago. :)

Interesting bit of trivia: the list of copy protection questions for the game is contained in a resource called "HOGANUS". A little bit of fun on the part of the developers the public was never meant to find out about. :)

You should contact Support about that, or PM JudasIscariot as I believe he handles the bonus content.

Just an FYI: I did, and I got response that it is actually part of the game installer. If you look under documentation, there's an "Audio Log" shortcut for Rex's logbook.

I'm playing on Mac, anyone know where the 'Audio Log' bonus content is? There is no documentation place to click, just a 'Rex Nebular' bundle under /Applications. I need to to resume my game - copy protection keeps asking for words from the log book - and just wish to read it as well. How do I PM this JudasIscariot, anyone have a link to the user? Thanks

Rex Nebular App > right click and select "Show Package Contents" > Contents > Resources > Rex Nubular.boxer > Show Package Contents > Documentation > Audiolog.pdf

I'm not getting any copy protection questions, I think I may have got one when I first loaded the game (if so, I just pressed ENTER or typed something random).

Thank you kipper, that worked, I had to control-click and select 'show package contents' on 'Rex Nubular.boxer ' as well.

And triock, that newest version is the one I had the trouble with, never tried any earlier ones.

I wish it was just a folder that was in the disk image which you can copy to where ever on your computer. Inside that folder would be the PDFs as well as the game and bonus program run from boxer and/or dosbox. That would be so much simpler and straight forward.

Here you go. http://www.mocagh.org/miscgame/rexnebular-log.pdf
I had this problem too, and typed in the correct word from the manual to get past it. The weird thing is, I had already been playing for several weeks without any issue. Why would the copy protection screen suddenly decide to make an appearance? At least my save file was intact.
Thanks, Archangel! A great copy of the log (better than others I could find online and IMO better than the one included with the game).

GOG, can you please add the Audio Log PDF to the extras downloads for this game (and fix the manual download, as unlike the one packaged with the game, it gives a broken font error when loaded!).

I know the audio log is included in the installer, but it is very easy to not realise this as nearly every other GOG game has the documentation as "extras" in the download pages... and Rex has the hint book and manual listed there but not the audio log book. :(
