I just read an article stating Retro City Rampage will be getting a MS DOS release. According to the article, those who've already purchased RCR/RCRDX will have it added to their library. This should include GOG, Steam, and Humble Store purchases.

Also, can I get an opinion here on how hard the game is, and if its even properly balanced??

De nada, ese :P
I've just tried the new DOS version of RCR and it's pretty cool! But I don't hear any music. Is there a way to turn it on? I don't see any sound setups anywhere.

PC Speaker only because:
"Yes. Wanted to get it fitting onto a single 1.44MB floppy and into 4MB RAM."

By DOS version, is this as in a native DOS setup or is it bundled with DOSBox like the other DOS games here on GOG?

EDIT: Okay, I can answer my own question, the files are just DOS files, no bundled DOSBox.

I checked DOSBox and it's set for PC Speaker mode. But I guess that means only sounds are emulated since there is no in-game music in RCR DOS?

Yeah, it is not possible with PC Speaker to do it at a level like the normal game. Put on the game's actual soundtrack or do what I am going to do, and put on some eighties and early nineties flavored music to fit the mood.
How to install the DOS version on modern OS? I'm using Windows 8.1 by the way.

Use DOSBox and install it from in there.
