Anyone know how I can get my mouse to run smoothly? Its a real pain to play because the mouse doesnt react properly. pressing buttons etc is a real strain.

I haven't had any problems with my mouse on this game. If it's a USB mouse, try plugging into a different usb slot. Sometimes you get phantom conflicts with USB buses for some obscure reason. I've never seen a mechanical reason for it happening, but it does. Sometimes I think computers are really sentient beings with minds of their own. And they just get cranky at times.
j/k of course,

I have the original Restaurant Empire (cd and everthing) and the exact same problem you have.

Mouse doesn't run properly and gets worse when you try more "precise" movements, like clicking a small button and so.

So the gog version has the same issue I guess? Not sure how to fix it...
Given the last post here was nearly a year ago I guess no-one knows a solution to this.

I just bought it and I'm having the same problem. The mouse is pretty much fine until you try to go near a button then it's nigh on impossible to work out how to maneuver it just right.

The game is pretty much unplayable :/

Just bought this and had the same problem. It turned out to be an easy fix.

1) Start a new game

2) Hit "escape" and go to the options screen.

3) Adjust your mouse sensitivity. I put mine on the second to last dot on the right. It fixed the problem of the mouse stuttering and not responding.

Hope it works for you. Let me know if it doesn't.

Was having the same problem as OP. Just tried this and I can confirm it WORKS!
The game was indeed unplayable up until I did this, and didn't need to crank it up that much, just move it one dot to the right and the issue will be corrected.

Kudos to this guy for finding it! and mark it as a SOLUTION already! :D
No freaking way :D

I saw that option but I never tried it. I mean, the mouse was smooth until I went near a button.
To me it didn't seem like a mouse smoothing issue.

But yeah, just tried it and it totally works.

Thank you so much EdwardB ^^
No problem, glad I could help!

If anyone figures out a way to invert the mouse for the camera control, let me know. I wasn't able to find that option anywhere and I am used to moving the mouse down to look up. The other way is driving me crazy!
