I'm playing the game with a macbook and in one of the first quest of the game it is requested to use your own keyboard to write a FTTN (a number with a certain format)

I cannot insert the FTTN since my keyboard doesn't type the symbol "-" inside the mainframe terminal: another symbol appears on the game screen but is not accepted to go on with the story.

I'm blocked in the game for this reason...since I bought the game yesterday I'm quite frustrated.

I tried every single combination of symbols but I could not write "-" with my keyboard inside the game to go through. The keyboard is working normally in general as you can see.

Could Someone help me?
thanks

Same problem on Linux, I can type the dash, but no slash for the /HELP command. I remember having similar problems in the Blackwell series, but there it wasn't a game stopper.

I was having the same problem, and I've easily (although annoyingly) solved by quitting the game, changing my keyboard layout to an English one, and restarting the game. With an English layout the slash is located just left of the right Shift key.

@shaffog, I don't know what your problem could be since you seem to be located at the UK, but there's no actual need to manually enter any FTTN to carry on with the story. Just use the DNA samples and you're done.

I am having exactly the same issue on Linux too. Seems to be a problem with the WINE emulation.

I tried tha on Linux and didn't work. I guess the WINE emulation might be stuck with an specific keyboard map even if i change my actual keyboard layout.

Why do you mean by WINE emulation? Is this a WINE-bottled game? Being an Adventure Game Studio game, I was under the impression that its Linux version made use of the native AGS Linux interpreter... (I cannot confirm or deny my claim as I no longer have the game installed, though)

This is what Wadjet Eye Games told me. I am not sure if they are correct or not, but given the circumstances i chose to believe them.

OK, now you just made me look into it. :P

And I'm afraid Wadjet Eye Games are wrong. They either deliberately lied to you, or they know no better, but I can now guarantee you my GOG Linux copy of Resonance is indeed native and not a WINE bottle.

For once, the GOG page doesn't mention WINE at all, while pages for games that are WINE-bottled (like [url=http://www.gog.com/game/flatout]FlatOut, for instance), do.

Then, this is the start.sh script for Resonance and this one is FlatOut's. Notice the differences.

Finally, this is the output of executing the file command on Resonance.bin.x86 and Resonance.bin.x86_64, the 32-bit and 64-bit game binaries respectively:
Resonance.bin.x86: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, Intel 80386, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked (uses shared libs), for GNU/Linux 2.6.18, BuildID[sha1]=cdc33614fccbaaca572fed7cd1f883f82e8a7df6, stripped
Resonance.bin.x86_64: ELF 64-bit LSB executable, x86-64, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked (uses shared libs), for GNU/Linux 2.6.18, BuildID[sha1]=1e542f1c79ccfe66301d460b618388dc24ca81f9, stripped
As you can see, they're native alright. :)
I am not sure about what I am going to say, but maybe it is possible to copy-paste a character directly into the game.
Linux offers the feature of copying-on-select and pasting-on-middle-click. Since the AGS client in Linux is probably managed by X, I think it could be possible to copy-paste the right character selecting it outside the game and then using the middle-click in game to paste it.

Well they mention they didm't actually made the port, so probably they don't know better.
The game is definitely native, not using Wine or any other wrapper. I solved the prolematic part by compiling a local version of AGS using the latest sources from the official repository, replacing the original executable. Sound was crappy (PulseAudio support sucks in official AGS sources), but keyboard input was correct.

Mac build is likely using Wine (e.g. Primordia does) as there is no working AGS for current versions of OS X.
Under ubuntu I was able to change the keyboard layout on console via
> setxkbmap -layout us
and then start the game. May be Os x has some similar options.
I had the same problem (Linux + Canadian French keyboard layout)

Solution:
before starting the game:

setxkbmap -layout us

This can be automated when starting the game:
edit the start.sh file
eg:
gedit /home/<usename>/GOG\ Games/Resonance/start.sh

change the default() function to:
( in my case, I set it back to canadian french with "setxkbmap -layout ca" after the game is terminated )

default() {
setxkbmap -layout us
run_game
setxkbmap -layout ca
}

I was going to open a new thread but then I realised that I could resurrect this one as my problem is different but related.
I am stuck because the shift key on my keyboard has no effect in game. Changing the layout has no use, I will get the number 7 when trying to get a dash / anyway. I am using Ubuntu 14.04 32 and my laptop keyboard has a QWERTY Italian layout. An external USB keyboard is no problem solver either.

Yes, I was astonished that people seriously advice to get a wrong keyboard layout ... strange way of thinking.
I just swapped the engine (which was adviced by gamers in that forum several times - but extremely short):
1) Download new AGS engine (here for Linux - other OSs are also available):
    https://github.com/adventuregamestudio/ags/releases/latest # 3.5.0.30 16.02.2021 now
getting ags_3.5.0.30_linux.tar.gz # or later versions, of cause ;)
2) This file will use subdirectory 'data' as game path and base being GOG install path with script startgame.
So one can make 'game' being 'data' via 'mv game data; ln -s data game' in GOG install path
and then extract the tar archive there - maybe before moving existing files away and
    linking to used names like:
mv game data # current AGS has game engine in data, not game
ln -s data game
cd game
mv Resonance.bin.x86 ORIG_Resonance.bin.x86_ORIG
mv Resonance.bin.x86_64 ORIG_Resonance.bin.x86_64_ORIG
mv lib ORIG_lib_ORIG
mv lib64 ORIG_lib64_ORIG
ln -s ags64 Resonance.bin.x86_64
ln -s ags32 Resonance.bin.x86
ln -s lib32 lib
cd ..
mv start.sh ORIG_start.sh_ORIG
ln -s startgame start.sh
tar xvfz <PATH_TO_DOWNLOADED_AGS_ENGINE>/ags_3.5.0.30_linux.tar.gz # current version file ...
which should do the job (instead of CLI you can use the mouse if so inclined :).
For a later refresh of the AGS engine only the last step
(tar-extraction in install dir) is necessary).
3) Enjoy the new engine - you can use the keyboard layout of the system as you want it and it should work
(tested for German - on file save; did not work with the original AGS but without problem
    with the new engine.
It should also be better for current HW - one small negative thing is a 2s pause of sound
when using KDE volume control changes ... but in game changes of volume are working
    without that gap.
And yes, I asked GOG about changing the engine ... so everybody will just use GOG installer and it works directly.
But it seems they leave everything to gamers or developers - don't get any answer on support ticket ...
Thus if having trouble with AGS engine one may look here (it is open source now - so a real OSE being maintained):
    https://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/forums/ !
We are not alone ... even though this impression may be generated from time to time! ;)
