Do you know what full screen resolutions it supports in Red Faction 1? Does it support 1680 x 1050?

I don't think it ever supported widescreen even in unofficial patches. The highest resolution option I get for my 1080p screen is 1280x1024, but I prefer to actually play it in ye good ol' 1024x768 because the former makes the whole thing look a bit squished.

Look for a unoficial patch called Pure Faction, it brings support of widescreen resolutions and other multiplayer features

You might be able to use a DirectDraw wrapper (such as DxWnd) to run the game windowed. If you have already bought it, give it a try, but if you are considering buying only if it can be run in a window then I can't guarantee that this will work. The alternative is to run it in a virtual machine but then you might experience other issues.

Pure Faction is for RF1 only. I'm not aware of an equivalent for RF2 (though if anyone else does, please let us know). My only thoughts would be to try DxWnd or other DirectDraw windowing software.

I tried the Pure Faction mod and it does give RF1 a windowed mode on Windows 7. But it looks like it doesn't work for RF2. Does anyone know if there is a mod for that game as well?
