I came back to GOG recently to get copies of Red Faction 1 and 2 for my brothers, and found out that they were removed. Now, I recognize that there may have been licensing reasons for this (maybe the agreement expired), so I'm not going to gripe and complain about it. However, I am curious about whether or not any removed games have ever been put back up for sale once removed and what the chances are of the Red Faction series, specifically 1 and 2 (especially 2), being put back here? If there was another post for this, I apologize, but I was unable to find one that gave me the specific information I was looking for.

The Red Faction games were licensed by Nordic Games, who pulled their games from GOG's catalog a few months ago due to regional pricing differences. Though there's still a chance these games come back. During Xmas GOG negotiated a special sale with Nordic, making all their games available again for a short period of time. So they're still in contact and even organizing sales. GOG has expanded their regional priced games range recently, so eventually Nordic might jump back in. As of now, GOG seems to refrain from making classic $5.99 and $9.99 games regional priced, but only games in a higher price range. This is probably one reason the older titles from Nordic are gone, as they insist on it and GOG refuses to give in for those games. To a certain degree I have to say thank god. As bad as regional pricing is, at least it doesn't affect most classics yet.

Some forum members still own unredeemed keys for these games, maybe you can make a trade:

Thanks for the information. Sorry it took me a while to respond. I spent much time with both games. Red Faction 1 was the first FPS I bought for my first computer, though I played a couple others on the family computer, and I played a lot Red Faction 2 on the Play Station. Needless to say, I do hope GOG gets them back.

Yes, it's a shame that these games suffer from of pricing issues and that 13 years after release. Regional pricing for older games is really unnecessary and a bad move from Nordic, imo. As Nordic is only the rights owner, it's not even the developers who earn that money. GOG simply needs more customers to be able to carry their point, so spread the word about this nice place ;-)
It's back!
