I set up a Windows XP machine (not virtual; real hardware) to play games with a CRT and wanted Red Faction on it, so I installed my GOG copy. Installation went fine and I can start the launcher, but when I click "play" the launcher freezes. When I try launching RF.exe directly, Windows Explorer freezes.

So I installed PureFaction and the game launches, menus work fine, but when I start the game, nothing happens. I can move/look around and jump only once, after I jump I can't jump again, I just sort of bounce along. None of the scripted sequences happen, characters stand around and do nothing, I can't interact with anything. Same goes for the training segment, I'm just stuck in a non-moving elevator and nothing happens.

Anyone else have this issue?

Hardware: Core 2 Quad Q6600, Radeon HD 5670 1GB, 4 GB DDR2, in an ASUS P5Q Deluxe. The only other game I've had a problem running on this machine so far was Quake 2 (1 and 3 run fine).

Same issues on my XP machine. I did not try PureFaction yet.
