I was wondering if the gog version of the game Red Faction 2 was as bad as the steam version (which is pretty unplayable if you don't fiddle with it). Anyone?
I'm also interested in knowing this.
Well I bought it and it seems you cannot really nicely set your resolution. At least in my case, independent on the res option I choose, the game sticks to a fairly low one (something like 640x480 or 800x600). Apart from that issue I cannot really tell yet since I hope for a patch before delving into it.

Does Red Fction 2 use nglide? If so, you might have to set your resolution via the nglide settings (using the configurator tool for the v1 versions and for versions prior to that it used an ini file).
It doesn't seem so. At least I did not find any dll files or similar in the main folder of the game that would indicate so.

edit: I just found out that it is possible to change the resolution of the game. However, you cannot just choose any resolution, it just let's you use the resolution that the Windows desktop was set to before launching the game. I use a desktop resolution of 1920x1080 and only setting that one in-game works. Any other resolution leads to Red Faction 2 simply switching to supposedly the lowest supported one. It would be really nice if the GOG staff could deliver a patch that allows free changing of resolutions. I would be very thankful!

It works ok for me on 64-bit Windows 7 at 1920x1080. Fun game! I never played this one when it was new.
