Interesting thing just happened. I got kill number 50 on an Se-5a apparently by causing an oil leak - but also hit my wingman who was on the opposite side. He also got an oil leak and crashed. Court martiallled, sentenced to death, commuted to life in hard labor. I must have ticked off someone powerful - even the mission was a bit risky (two Alb D-Va on a deep penetration Offensive patrol). Reminds me of the movie, "The Blue Max" - if you've seen it, you know what I'm talking about. Anyway, it got me out of Jasta 11 (after finally being able to transfer in) and into an average Jasta (Marine 2) for the first time. Phalz D-IIIs -yuukk! :) PS - I know I can resurrect the pilot but decided not to
In the can't have everything category - I sure do wish they had designed the campaigns to be continuous. When I was imprisoned, several aces were dead and Boelke only had 20 kills (he died in my second mission flying a plane Jasta 2 never had - the Fok E-III). My new pilot started a week later and everything had changed. Historic/names should really not reset unless one restarts a new campaign IMO. Well, if there ever is a "Red Baron 3D - II, maybe that'll be in there. I suspect, though, that if the game was ever redone, my computer, though quite good, would not be good enough. I have already been advised that it won't work well with the "Battle of Britain" WW-II simulation and suspect the same would be true of a modernized RB3d.
Well, the bullets have a scatter pattern. I once flamed both a N17 and a German Observation balloon with one burst. No court marshal though.
Actually, your old squad doesn't change when you are away for a long period like wounds. No new pilot, no new kills, nothing.
RB3D is being worked on to be modernized, but currently it is just the MP portion

Yeah, I noticed that. I was once out for three months and nobody got a kill in my Jasta. The only changes I've noticed is in location - that seems to change a lot while in the hospital.

Actually no one in your squad will get a kill unless you see them and the enemy planes before they are suppose to fight. By seeing, I mean they need to be within a certain sight range for the game to create them in game. Once created, the exist to the end of their mission.
Example, I have a bridge to CAP way to the North behind the lines. I do just the assignment, any other flights in my squad will never show up on the after mission report and will garner no losses nor kills.
Now, let us say as I head to my CAP assignment, I head way South so I cross my Squad members flying to their patrol zone, I will now get reports about them and their landings in the After Mission report.
If instead, I fly to the lines and then up North and get the enemy planes in range as they fly down along the lines to the balloon, I will get a report of their landing and such.
If I do it so I get my flight in range, and then the enemy in range, when I finish the mission, the after mission report will have a report of the two groups in their combat, and my members will get killed or get victories.

So that means name aces from other squadrons (including enemy) get their historic kills/deaths unless they are "spotted"? That would explain why historic aces in my jasta seem to die early (Boelke on 4 Sep 16 with 20 kills, etc)
I had a campaign where I believe it was Udet that had 4 kills before his first historic kill. That's what happens when one gets barrage duty when an ACE to be his doing a balloon busting mission across the lines.
