Hey folks. I used to spend hours flying RB3D starting around 1999 up until around 2004 or so. Was independent for a long time handle "Aerial Assassin" then a member of Jasta 9 "J9_Aerial" at one time then AB1 as "AB1_Krueger". Surprised to see there is still a community. Wailwulf I remember you from AB1! S! How many of the group is left? I see J9 website on an old geocities link is dead for about 6 years now. How many guys from back then (and even earlier RB2) are still around?

S! and Howdy,

Im kindof a re-plant from the same era, but i didnt fly online much because of my connection back then (or now for that matter) i think windows XP wiped out half the pilots with the shakey speed fix and so-so Gwrappers. GOG did a fine job with these issues and their speed slider is a gem. Grab a current wrapper and HASP and your a go!

Im currently flying 3 seperate camps 1 being Jasta 80b (blue max) , a flyboy setup and a red baron camp, all under HASP all around 66%, and they look great. My CM11 setting is 2250 which blends well with my diff levels and gives me a fighting chance if i fly smart...injoy and thanks for posting... S!

If you have Win7 or newer, forget CM11. I'd still be flying if I could still use that to start early, etc.
Hail Krueger!

Haven't been playing much RB3D. Currently addicted to World of Tanks for online play.

AB1 has become a Czech Squadron and only fly Rise of Flight last I heard.

Former AB1 members that pla, World of Tanks besides myself is Coleslaw, Stachel, Phule, CamelJockey and Hogen, though Coleslaw and Hogen are independents.

Can always contact me at Wailwulf (at) hotmail....

One feature of CM11 is that it lets you start a campaign much earlier then standard RB3d and fly the older planes with far fewer around so flying lone wolf isn't necessarily suicide. Can't remember exactly but I think you can start in 1915 whereas RB3d vanilla only covers the late part of the war. You can also modify when new planes come in and go out thus eliminating all the E-3s that were rarely flown in the vanilla time frame but seem normal in vanilla but being able to fly them before they were obsolete.

You can pick up a Hex editor and change it yourself. (Not simple i know, but Doable)

Sygrod did a great job (Thank You Internet Archive for saving it) in trying to explain how to Hex edit a RB3D campaign.

Here is an over view of the site that helps you edit RB3D files: http://web.archive.org/web/20070415081906/http://home.golden.net/~ksharman/rb/Main.html?

This info gave me enough info that I would transfer the entire squadron, with all their kills and medals when ever I needed to start a new pilot. I also used it to remove kills, move kills, or add a kill to a pilot that I felt should be sharing the kill.

Oh my heck you guys... i have CM11 running in all my camps, and had no idea it was that capable. Maybe you guys can show me how to re-create the start and carreer of MVR. In the vinilla game im having to start in dec1917 to be sure ill be in the AlbDii as he did.

Im sure a guy could start a real camp as MVR sept 17 1916 in Jasta 2 flying the Alb Diinif he were proficiant in the workings of CM11, im just not sure if im smart enough---would it be real hard---im willing to learn...Thanks

Its been a couple of years since I used it - but I do remember that it was very easy. I'll see if there aren't instructions around on some defunct site or something.

EDIT: Not too successful - this is the best I could do. I had hoped I had saved the instructions but I lost a lot of data in a hard drive failure:

Yeah, I follow the procedures; been doing it for quite a while. Set game date, new pilot, quit prior to taking off, change game date, quit before taking off, take off. Even went back to the instructions to be sure. I even deleted a bunch of old pilots thinking a limit may have been reached (I lost a lot of pilots flying as a German but the French, at least twice as many as the German Kamikaze pilots keep hitting the air breaks in front of me causing a collision).
I think I set the game date as Sept 1915 but believe one could go as far back as Jan 1915.

Still fly RB3d online a few times a week, Dev's Hell server week days and Wolf's funday on Sat.

I'm AB1_CamelJock from the old days. Me and Wailwulf still run WoT together to this day! I still maintain a modern server that has an RB3D meta up 24/7. I run a few RB3D servers as well. I can set up servers on request as well. Have the bandwidth for 100+ players if needed. Brought to you by the people who still care. Add this meta to your mplayer.ini file:

[MetaServers]
Server=TCP:216.18.240.30:6001 ; Redux

I thought I knew you from some where. just couldn't place it. Used to fly as a bomber in the tournaments, right? ;)

Salute! Gents

Strangely, since the code for RB3D singleplayer has been largely upgraded (work was stopped by choice), things like CM could easily be redesigned in C++ and made to work within Singleplayer....as could almost anything you could dream of to improve awards, rising in rank....etc. Unfortunately, there has been no progress for completing the upgrade because it isn't being allowed by its owners, as reported 3 years ago in the Redux forum.

You can catch the most recent post on this: http://redbaron3dofficialsite.com/forum/index.php?topic=165.0

I would think that GOG and Steam would be salivating over this incredible opportunity sitting on the shelf for the last 3 years. No Glide....all OpenGL....fully modern sound....new ROF+ graphics could be created if the final step of upgrading the 3D aspect was complete....but the colors can already be hi-def.

<sigh> The world is a strange place.

S! I have tried posting at the Mad Otter Red Baron website forum (I tried to post a link here) www.redbarongame.com/forum/index.php?forums/

I continue to get the attached response, which others have also observed:

A lot of heartfelt questions about Red Baron 3D have been asked there, without substantive or even any answers. The original Mad Otter/Damon Slye post promised community support and interaction, which has not been the case.

Given that it would take so little effort to actually support the community's interest in seeing Red Baron3D be brought back as an improved, highly modern game, cutting off posts does not help.

Played this game when it was released. had a good time with it. Just started to play today. Running W10, Anyone have any ideas to improve the graphics, i.e. resolution, say like 680x240, or something? Right now it's barely playable with the default graphics
