Hi, I'm brand new to RB3D, but have gotten the game running fine. (What worked: XP-Service Pack compatibility + speed at 100% + Glide wrapper + visual themes, etc. shut down) Now for the problem: I have never been able to launch with the intro movie(s). Instead, I see several windows flash by in a split second, and then I'm at the General Menu screen. Ideas? Thanking all in advance!!

I'm not sure if the XP-compatibility part is necessary for playing the game (at least it wasn't for me). Have you tried playing it without that?

I think in mine the intro movies are also skipped in a very similar fashion to what you described. For instance, I've never seen this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ALPS-0hKH-Q). The only thing I've ever seen is the company names come up. This is true on both Wine for OSX and Win7. EDIT: the GOG version does indeed have the intro movie in an AVI file (Data/Video/Intro.AVI), though none of my video players can show it (audio comes through), it may be encrypted or corrupted. Has anyone else seen the intro movie? I can play the SIERRA.AVI but interestingly enough that only plays the first time I download and launch the game, afterwards it doesn't. I can also play the FLC files.

BTW, have you installed Red Baron Reload (Wailwulf has links to it)? It adds some nice features like a bullet counter, mouse view, engine type/damage, wind, etc ... As I said in another thread, it isn't really a mod, more of a toolshed upgrade. :)

Well, just got back from Rome and Paris, now waiting for the bills to roll in.

If the game plays and all that is missing, count your blessings. There are a few folk out there with Win7 that all they get is the Intro movie.

But if you want, go to the game folder and check the Video folder to see if it has Intro.AVI.

As is, some of my installs play the Intro movie and some don't, and I am not sure why.
The intro movie requires an Indeo video codec, IV41 - Windows no longer includes Indeo video codecs, so you'll have to hunt it down & install manually.

I got mine here:

huh ... interesting will check this out
The intro movie is just an AVI movie. I believe the Indeo video codecs is for the flc videos for within the game, such as the award ceremony and funeral scene.

Nope.

Mine would not run the intro video. I tried in VLC player, and it told me it needed the IV41 codec. I found & installed the codec, and it played (I haven't tried the game yet, just played the video).

Same here ... I have the AVI video for the intro, but VLC player wouldn't play it. While, VLC didn't give me that particular error message, I haven't upgraded it though in awhile so I'm a few releases behind. VLC played Sierra.AVI just fine and the flc videos fine as well. The only one it couldn't play was the intro.

I finally installed the codec IV41 in my Wineskin for the game. I can confirm that intro movie now plays for me in game. Thanks!
