Thought I'd put up a quick list of Red Baron 3D mod sites to get you started.
First put the 3D back into RB3D. There's several Glide emulators for those of you who don't happen to have a Voodoo card laying around. The two most popular are dgVoodoo http://dege.freeweb.hu/ and Glidos http://www.glidos.net/ Polovski's dgVoodoo FAQ courtesy of the Internet Archive http://web.archive.org/web/20080531114428/http://www.polovski.com/FAQ/dgvoodoo.htm Regardless of the emulator you use if you start getting technicolor terrain limit texture memory to 2-4 Mb. It's a flaw in the game as it was originally made for early Voodoo1+2 cards and even affected my old Voodoo3.
Hell's Angels SuperPatch All in one patch adds new flight models, damage models, 3d models, skins, sounds, music, etc... This one is the easiest to use just pretty much install and play.
http://www.hellsangels.firstflare.com/main.htm
Society of World War One Sim Artisians http://www.swwisa.net/ You can find several mods here including new fronts. The most popular is the Western Front Patch http://swwisa.net/wfp/ which adds around 100 new aircraft and several other features.
vonObens Flight Simulator site http://vonoben.free.fr/ Hosts Beery's UOP and some other mod files.
Good hunting!
There was also The Promised Land-Full Canvas Jacket. I never purchased it, but it was supposed to be the best mod out there. It wasn't a free download though.
Just checked to see if it was available. At this site:
http://www.fullcanvasjacket.com/
seems the only way to get it is a link to it on ebay, however.

I can attest to the fact tha the Full Canvas Jacket mod is still around.
I purchased a copy of it not too long ago.
It is not free, and is only available through Ebay, for a fixed price.
You may have to contact the author directly to him to put some "up' on E-bay, as
he doesn't always have active items there.

It's more polished than HASP, but doesn't have the content that HASP does. Get the FCJ loader along with reload.exe. You'll have the FCJ GUI and options and with reload.exe, a slew of choices along with TIR 2DOF.
Return of the Jastas, 1 and 2 are also very good mods. Western Front 2 along with CM11 or later is excellent. You'll be able to choose time periods in campaign mode.

Thanks for those links. I'm looking forward to loading this one up.

http://www.rb3d.net/osl/files/Download/OpenGlide_009rc9_Max256MB.zip
are two opengl wrappers. Read the readme. Need to do some tuning of the ini file, but they work great for me and have eliminated any graphic corruption I have had.

As a note, CM11 doesn't work with 64-bit operating systems, and I'm not sure if there's a later version.
So many mods, and Glides and....I don't do well with rearranging files. I tried over 30 times before Mad Otter took over to get RB3D to work. I bought this copy 3 days ago. It's the only one I got to work. Now where would one go to get instruction on these file edits, i.e. multiplayer , Thats my first goal, and I hope to finish before I hit my 53rd B-day.

Can you explain what a Glide wrapper is, and what function it provides to graphics for RB3D. Are they necessary? If so how does one put one in ones pc? I tell you, I don't know Jack and I'll ask questions now and again.
Thank you.

I have recently purchased the Red Baron pack and was wondering if someone might help me with some questions.
I am running Vista with a Nvidia GeForce 280 graphics card and considering its age the RB 3D graphics look ok and so far have been stable so I am not sure if I should use a glide emulator or what difference, if any, it will make.
Also, I have downloaded the Hells Angels big patch plus their 3D patchOTE just a couple of questions, does the big patch automatically install to the correct location in the gog version or do I have to specify the location?
The other patch consists of 3 .vol files found in the data-3d patch folder do I just paste these straight from the downloaded folder into the program patch file?
Thanks
Don

Glide graphics were a style/type/process of Graphics that were created by the Voodoo graphic cards. The company, 3Dfx that built them went out of banrupt and was bought out by Nividia in 2001. The Glide wrappers are little programs that allow you to create that style/type/process of graphics with today's graphic cards.
The Glide wrappers that are out there are dll files (dynamic link libraries) that for RedBaron 3D just put in the game folder. There are two main types with a number of versions. One type is called DGVooDoo and the other is known as OpenGlide. There are other types but I have never used them. OpenGlide worked best with my WinXP machine while DGVoodoo 1.4 works best with my Win7 machine.
I have posted 4 Glide wrappers here:
http://cid-e196374a237958b4.skydrive.live.com/browse.aspx/Public/GlideWrappers
Place them in the game folder. You may need to experiment to find the one that works for you. For Open Glide read the read me as you need to configure the ini file to you computer.
Read this for the DGVoodoo 1.4 and 1.5 tweaks if needed:

Wailwulf,
Thank You for posting that. I found it helpful.
To clarify for me. I have the Red Baron Pack from GOG. My machine is running Win XP SP2 - PIIII 3.4 single core, 2GB Ram and a 256 Nvidia 7600GS Card.
I understand for me it would be best to start with the Open Glide Wrappers - correct?
I saw on RedBaronPlayers.net this piece of advice :
4 specific versions are suitable to run RB3D:
OpenGLide_v007b4 good start for older cards
OpenGLide_v007b5
OpenGLide_v009rc5 good start for newer cards
OpenGLide_v009rc6
so I was going to start with the 009rc5 wrapper unless you think I need another one ?
I understand you just drop this into your RB folder.
I had heard about new wrappers fixing graphics corruptions on the terrain etc.. so I thought I would get some advice. I also own the FCJ super patch.
Thanks in advance.

For me, I have found the Glide wrappers to be finicky, where others have not. I have been told by many the if you have Nvidia, use DGVooDoo, if you have an ATI card, use OpenGlide. Well, my XP machine is very, very similar to yours and DGVooDoo for me give somewhere between 0-5 FPS. However I am the only person that I of know that it is this way, at least to this extreme.
But yes, basically it is just the placing the dll file into you main game folder, though for the OPENglide_xxxx_256MaxMB also includes an ini file. The best advice I can really give is try one and see if it runs smoothly and give a good image quality, then try another and see if it does better or worse.
Since you have Nvidia, I would suggest that you try dgVoodoo1.50Beta2 first. With the DGVooDoo Setupexe you can play with the memory scalability to try to deal with the graphic corruption. Then I would try the two Open Glides 256MaxMB as they were modified to get rid of the corruption.
I would then try DGVooDoo 1.4 (It is the one that works well for me on my new duo core computer.
The DGVooDoo wrappers come with a program to help configure your settings so tweaks can be made.
Openglide_XXXX_256MaxMB come with an ini file that you make changes to in Notepad to tweak. Most critically is the vertical sync (monitor refresh rate), if that is different then your monitor's refresh rate, it can really cause problems to the game graphically.
CamelJocky has just posted links to his prefigured wrappers here: http://redbaron3dofficialsite.com/forums/index.php?topic=221.0 His high end wrapper is almost as good as DGVooDoo 1.4 on my machine visually, and did give much better FPS
Gremlin also posted his hosting of DGVooDoo 1.5beta2 and both Openglide_XXXX_256MaxMB versions here:
http://www.wingsofhonour.com/downloads/resources/html_woh_downloads_resources_drivers_glide-wrappers.en.html
Thanks again Wailwulf,
This is very useful information. I really appreciate you taking the time to write this up.
I am going to get a couple copies of RB3D setup and starting playing around.

So I've installed the Hells Angels Super Patch, and that's quite nifty, and now I'm wondering if I should also try to install the Western Front Patch. Do these patches conflict with one-another, or can they work to create and even more cohesive and interesting game? Anyone with experience here?

Putting them together will cause conflicts, or the late4st one installed will overwrite the other.
Best way is to have multiple installs of RB3D. Create a stock version that runs, and then just make copies of it and install the mods into a copy.
