Two minor items that I haven't been able to figure out:
Sometimes, one of the AI pilots will have results like "2 kills (1 friendly)". What exactly does this mean? Did he get credit for shooting down his second in command or does it mean two actual kills plus shooting down his wing man?
Second, in the manual it states that the creaking sound is "permanent damage". What exactly does that mean? My guess is that it is permanent for that flight only or, do you have an actual assigned plane that accumulates unrepairable damage over time?
Thanks. I understand that these are flavor questions, but it has been bothering me a bit (I think, simply because I don't know).

"2 kills (1 friendly)" means he was credited in bringing down an enemy and a friendly plane.
As to permanent damage, it is for the mission only. You always start a mission with a fully repaired machine.

Well, I guess accidents happen. He didn't disappear so I guess he was not court martialled :).
One of my pilots met with a board but was cleared. Not sure why, though. The whole squadron attacked an airdrome of which he caused a lot of damage but after the third pass, I noticed I was alone except one other plane (I assume a UoF as I was an FW) and could still see little dots to the north that had to be the rest of the squadron. Headed their way but noticed they were vectoring towards home (which made sense) so I set an intercept course. Somewhere along the way, they disappeared so I and the in-tow other plane returned to base. Guess having 13 kills saved my butt.
Now am I correct that if I did not have the UoF in tow, that nothing of the sort would have happened? Poor fool got shot down in his next mission anyway (me, not the UoF). I sure am hard on the new pilots but sometimes, well --- him and the flight leader in Alb D-IIIs escorting two Rolands were jumped by around 12 Tripes. Wasn't pretty. x,x

No, you still would go up on charges. The higher command is all knowing in they know exactly how many you shot down, no matter you are 100 miles into enemy territory and all by yourself.
When attacking aerodromes, avoid the ambulances at all costs. One bullet in an ambulance and there will be an inquiry, you know how the enemy loves to complain about war crimes and such. :)

Oh, that is what was up. I didn't notice any ambulances but I sure as heck could have hit one. I thought it was because my squadron was in a fight and I went home with a witness to boot. I found this out in the debrief of course; they were fighting a bunch of pups and it appeared to be a sort of running fight as the last crash was a pup near a Gm airdrome on the return route. I figured the charge was cowardice or something - I lost track of flights before and went home if it was late but never before had a witness. Anyway, you warned me about boards (fragging thing :)) - this game still keeps surprising me.
Hey, if you don't mind, it seems like you have been doing this for w while so I'd like to pick your brain. Have you ever tried the full leather jacket patch? I have it but couldn't get it to work but probably can with some persistence. have you tried it? If so, what is your take?

You know, I was wondering about that - gotten credit for kills way behind enemy lines while I was by my lonesome. Must be Zeppelins everywhere with good telescopes :) . Don't think the French were calling my commander - well maybe they were calling him some names.
Full Canvas Jacket is a very well crafted mod of RB3d. I have a few problems with it and some of what was done in it, but over all, it is very well done. It has great cockpits, debris on No Man's Land, very nice graphics and mostly great sounds (there are 2-3 sounds I abhor).
One thing that can be done about those un-witnessed kills is to get Tymorphil's Campaign editor.

You can use it to remove kills from your and your squad-mates. Can even Change names and many other things. The only real flaw (besides being unfinished) is the date change does not work correctly. It will put the year your computer is at, the the correct year of your game.
