I'm running into the messed up darkness colors, even with the config stuff here. Strangely I remember the last time I played the game years ago (Got it on GOG recently) on steam and I remember doing the changes and it worked; clearing up the messed up coloration and fixing the intro video. However, it seems that this is no longer working for me and I much prefer using the US patch; since i can rebind keys and change difficulties, mostly so I can rebind keys and not have it be a hassle.

Really driving me nuts because this worked in the past.

The US patch also changes the gamma to a higher setting. Under the in game settings, change the gamma to the lowest possible setting for the smallest amount of purple tint. There will still be some, but it should match what the vanilla GOG version is.

If it doesn't match the original after changing that, I recently went over a full install process (using an updated DOSBox) in another thread. You may find it useful.

Personally, I've never found the first video in the US patch to work properly. You'll also notice that the vanilla GOG version is missing that one. The rest do work without issue, however.

I was stumped on how to enable the sound setting tool (in this case install.exe) for this game for the purpose of using Munt. Putting a pause command in the autoexec section of dosboxROTH_settings.conf let me see the error message install.exe kept throwing before the window closed: It's missing a readme.txt. Just create one in ..\Realms of the Haunting\ROTH, and install.exe works.
