Using a mac. I got Origins to work pretty near perfect with Wine. Only problem was there was some missing graphics.. like spike walls, and fireballs..and in some levels..the ground.

So I tried using Crossover instead.

With Crossover I try to launch the game and it says "sound driver failed to initialize".
It says on the Crossover website that it's Gold, its a perfect go, no problems.
No idea what im doing wrong.

I've played through a bunch of the game with the missing graphics, but i'm stuck at a part where I REALLy need to see the invisible things that keep killing me..

Any ideas would make my fucking day!

help?

Since a long time has passed I don't know whether this is still of any help, but I'll post it anyway for future reference in case somebody finds it useful.

I was having the same problem in CrossOver on my Mac, that is, I would get an error saying "Sound driver failed to initialize" whenever I launched the game. The solution is very simple: install the additional component "Microsoft DirectX Runtime - Modern" into the same bottle where Rayman Origins is installed.

This fixed the issue for me: the game runs smoothly and without any glitch (I would rate it Gold indeed).

Hey thanks.
Actually the problem fixed itself when I upgraded to Mavericks for some reason.

That's weird, because I had the problem on Yosemite! Well, whatever :-)
I'm glad you managed to enjoy this great game in its full splendour.

Sorry for asking after all this years, but how do you install "Microsoft DirectX Runtime - Modern"? I have been through the Wine config menus, I cannot find it...
