Is this harder than Earthwork Jim 1/2 ?

I mean, in the sense of needing a controller?
I couldnt even get past the first level in either Jim 1 or 2.
I was bouncing all over the place, couldnt jump high enough, couldnt hit that 2 pixel spot to go down, etc etc etc...

So, is this more adventure based (ie: easier to control) ?

Thanks for info.
Hmm... difficult... you won't have any trouble with the first few levels (unlike Earthworm Jim), but in later levels it becomes very taxing since you'll have to make the jump at EXACTLY the right moment. In a way it's more unforgiving that EWJ, since a miscalculated jump usually means immediate death... in another way it's a lot easier since the enemies are not nearly as annoying (well, except for the lighting-shooting eyes).

All in all, the actual jump-n-run action is probably harder, but with less distraction...
Well, Thankd for the info.

Will have to debate wether to get this or not.
Not like I dont have a huge back-log of games I havent even started, let alone finished.
Hehehehe
It's a platformer, so you're going to want a controller. It CAN be played with a keyboard, but it's not designed around it and isn't as fun with it.

As for difficulty, I'd say it's harder but more fair. Hitboxes are easier to figure out at a glance, backgrounds and foregrounds are easier to differentiate, etc. But it's still a pretty hardcore platformer and if you're not used to the genre (which is kind of the impression I get, no offense) then this might not be the best starting point.
Heh.
No offense taken.
It is the truth.
I dont game with a controller, and I have always stuck to FPS REAL shooters, not action shooters.
But, I am getting older, and slower, and am looking into other genre's.
I LOVED Mirrors Edge, and the whole Tomb Raider series (although only the first 4, the rest kinda blow), and I can predict jumping spots very well.
Just not very good at the controller games, using kb/mouse.

Yeah, this might not be for you then. The genre is built for a controller, so that's pretty much how you have to play it if you want to do well at all.

If you want an easier platformer, there's always Sonic the Hedgehog 2. It's a classic (certainly more classic than Rayman), but also happens to be pretty easy, and is available on pretty much every digital download site that isn't GoG. It'll be an emulation of the Genesis game (it wasn't a PC title), but I doubt that would make much of a difference.

It, of course, requires a controller too, but it won't make you want to die at later levels like Rayman will.

If you absolutely can't or won't play with a controller, this probably isn't the genre for you. Playing platformers with a keyboard is like playing an RTS with a controller: you can, but why bother? :)

I really don't see why he'd need a controller. It's a case of fingers vs. thumbs (as Super Meat Boy puts it). Personally I prefer using the arrows for controlling as that means I'm in control of which inputs are sent, and not at the mercy of a slightly off angle thumb throwing me the wrong way.

As for vs. earthworm jim. I gotta say I enjoyed this game ways more than EWJ. Jim has a lot more humour in it, but this presents a bigger more varied challenge, with cleaner graphics (at times Jim could get really really muddled up, Rayman is easy to tell foreground from background). And the added abilities you unlock makes you feel like you're progressing, especially when going back to the earlier levels searching for secrets and just breezing through sections you had trouble with when you started the game.

I can't speak for the endgame as I never got further than the second set of levels at the pencil plateu, those levels are brutal.
yeah, I have sonic on the psp, and I cant play that either.
:(
I cant get past the loop-de-loop parts.
Cant get running fast enough to complete the loop.
Hehehe

Thanks again for the info guys, I think I will give this one a pass, and stick to the 'made for pc with no controller' type games.
:)
