sear: I know that this is probably an issue with the original game. First off, the keyboard controls seem far slower than the mouse controls, to the point where it's actually extremely difficult to play without using the mouse. However, this brings to light another problem, which is that the mouse seems to "stick" on the right edge of the screen, which makes controlling the game difficult. Sometimes the mouse just seems to freeze up outright, as well. Does anyone have any tips on improving the controls? I haven't played this game in so long that I honestly don't know if it's a bug or "just the way it is".
EDIT: I feel silly for not noticing there was another thread on this issue. Sorry guys!

I don't see any other threads on this topic.
I've never seen the mouse issue in the DOS version - it is a new bug. As far as I can tell without access to the code the mouse pointers coordinates are not being translated properly. This may be intentional as it seems like a fairly obvious bug.
Attached you'll see an image of the game with a red box drawn in part of it. This red box is the game screen as far as the mouse pointer is concerned. As soon as the real (windows) mouse pointer leaves the red box, the in game mouse pointer is hard up against the edge of the screen. You can see this yourself quite easily. Slowly move the pointer to the top right corner. As soon as it reaches the right side, move the pointer straight up and it should appear in the middle of the title bar - not on the close button.
This is why the mouse pointer doesn't leave the right or bottom edges of the game window as straight away as soon as the in game cursor reaches it. While the in-game cursor might appear in the bottom right corner of the screen, the windows cursor is actually right in the center of the window.
If you move the windows cursor (which you can't see of course) to the right of this red box you'll have to move it all the way back to the left until it is back inside the red box before your ship will move. This is why the mouse appears to stick on the right edge of the screen.

i've just checked out that this mouse bug doesnt occur in the DOS version.
someone should contact GOG staff or directly the author to try to fix it.
Do you play it windowed or fullscreen? I had a problem with the ship sticking to the right side when I was playing windowed. Switching to fullscreen eliminated the problem.

u didnt check it out carefully... switching to fullscreen doesnt resolve the issue...
I've had no issues with this.. however the mouse does seem to be jerky (ie. say i move to the right when i let go it slowly drifts there for a moment not allowing me to move to the left for half a second or so).. this issue was NOT in the dos version as i have that on my computer sitting in the folder next to the game and have tested it myself. Im using a razer mamba which could be the issue... alot of old games have issues with high dpi mice and since its not using dosbox may not be translating properly. Either way... the old controls were pristine and this is a game where you need the utmost control to pull off crazy stuff.. which lets be honest... is the reason we loved this game in the first place.

also what alot of you seem to be complaining about relates to the fact that the windowed mode is not confined, meaning your mouse can move outside of the window... thats another huge problem that could be fixed =P

It's a bug in the 2010 Edition, DotEmu has patched it we just need to make sure GOG is using their newest version...

I Confirm. I bought this game from Dotemu (in February 2014) and keyboard and mouse seems to work like in shareware 1.2 version (checked via Dosbox 0.74)
Has GOG acquired the DotEmu version of this yet, that includes the patch?
