I have come across a bug that is very frustrating. I am still trying to determine the cause, but I am getting the error: "Unable to load the saved game! The data may be corrupted. You can delete the saved game.

If you try to delete the saved game then "Please wait" is displayed on the screen and the game appears to freeze up (with music still continuing to play though) and I have to force quit the program.

When this happens, all of the saved game files end up apparently corrupted, not just the latest one. It has happened to me twice now and it means that I have to manual browse to the save game location and delete the files in my OS rather than the option in the game.

I thought it may have something to do with the way I exited the program, but after the first time I did it, I saved game to a file, then returned to the game and then selected Exit each time and it worked perfectly fine until I got about 4 autosave files there and then the problem happened again. So I am thinking that the error is related to having too many autosave files in the directory, but it's just a theory.

Any suggestions?

NB: I'm running Linux Mint with kernel 4.15 on Core i5-9600K, 16GB RAM, AMD Radeon RX470
This bug occurs sometimes on my system (Ubuntu 18.04) too
Update: I have disabled autosave and still have the problem intermittently.
As a workaround, I am just creating multiple "backup" copies of the savegame directory so I can restore to a point when it happens. I still don't know the cause.
I have not experienced the bug since following this procedure when exiting the game;

* Save game
* Click continue (and go back to game in progress briefly
* Go back to menu and click Quit game and allowing the game to autosave

I think the issue may be related to returning to the main menu and quitting without pressing quit from within a current game.

I can confirm that the savegame corruption issue exists, but I haven't found a definitive cause. Trying to delete a save game, which causes the game to hang, seems to cause it pretty reliably. Not sure when it happens outside of that situation.

While I played this game a lot recently and enjoy it I'm certainly not going to buy any DLC before this is fixed. I already lost a couple of hours to this issue.
Well, I bought this game recently, and in happened on second campaign mission! All game saves from my game are corrupt now, If I knew that before, I would have never bought this. I think I will not play that *** again, scenarios are boring anyway.
i just got the save a game and save options not working after i installed the japan add on, or it was the... 2019 patch? idk?
anyways di ....to make a long story short...
i was ready to give up on it, clicked on my "notices" says firewall is blocking a APP.
so i click on that and a bunch in windows security says...blocking railway empire from accessing documents/mygames/railroad empire folder.
thats where the game saves and set up are.
so i took the action and allowed the railway empire APP in my firewall, and booted the game and what do ya know.
the durn thing worked like a charm.
anyways now i wonder if i set my firewall back to default like i do sometimes to clear it up, if i will have to allow railway empire app?
strange never had this problem before?
great game hooked on it
I have the exact same experience, savegames are corrupted sometimes and deleting savegames somehow crashes the game.
I don't care a lot about a savegame, it's not a big deal to run a scenario from the beginning (maybe it's not the same in a free game…) but it's really annoying to:

* start the game
* go to "load"
* delete one savegame
* see the game crashed
* exit the game
* start all over

Now I found my safe files in `~/Kalypso Media/Railway Empire/docs/savegames` and will delete them now if that is helpful for anyone.
