I fixed the DirectDraw problem on windows 10 setting "Reduced color mode" to 16-bit in compatibility properties.

Steps:

1. Right click on the map editor exe file.
2. In Compatibility tab, enable "Reduced color mode" and set to "16-bit"

If the error "RIP Detected" occurs, just install the rom2mapfix from Allods2.eu.
So previously the above steps work only if from the website http:// allods2. eu /en/files/

I download the Rom2me (Map Editor v.1.76c+), setting color mode in compatibility and patching with the fix is needed if RIP detected.

But the colors are just like this and the screen is half and it all looks squished in the horizontal:

Look at this guy how he uses the editor:

I tried from the Allods.eu Map editor (version 3.0) but they do not work even if I "install in ROM2 folder" and click either the Map Editor v.1.76c+ file that is ROM2 Map Editor.exe or the rom2me.exe.

I do use Windows 11 23H2 or 24H2 and with my display the resolution is 2560x1600 (16:10) but I could use Compatibility to 640x480 and it is just zoomed in but same bad look. No change in quality.

I was to criticize major flaws the game has - I liked this game from childhood because it had really unique spells and was dedicated mage's game and yet the mages which class I prefer, they are so weak in a game about mages (barely damage some monsters like trolls even with Blizzard). The only way to solo is if you hire an ogre or a troll to be the meat shield.

And the SPAWN KILL - with intercepting dragons quest, gosh also if guards turn on you when you hit them.

And shops - im above 100 elemental skill and I have 5M gold, waiting for much much better items for sale. But I have Hard maps, maybe a Horror has better items?

That is why making my own maps now - one from Wacraft 3 where I recreate a map I had there but in ROM style, and another from an old game book where I will make The 7 Dragons - Dragon of Water, Dragon of Time, Dragon of Sun, Dragon of Fire, Air Dragon, Earth Dragon etc.

And editor is a way to fix these especially the spawn kills.

Thanks goodness in ROM2 the hero items drop on death not like in ROM1 that get deleted both equipped and inventory.

Someone had a similar issue on the allods forum http://forum.allods2.eu/index.php?threads/rom2map-editor-not-working-ugly-graphics.3754/

Some time ago I was getting the magenta colors but now (maybe with Nvidia drivers or windows updates) all I get is this:

As I read to use the editor and new versions, even if you have GOG's version of the game, you need to download the client from allolds, for example Allods2_en and when you unpack in that folder paste for example new editor from rom2me_1_3.zip

The issue is with graphic settings because I get that problem on the old editor version and GOG install folder as well as the new editor version installed on their client.

I tried compatibility windows 98, it says : (my install folder)\Games\Rage contains invalid path. What is it trying to get in such folder? If I create Games\Rage, it says access to the folder is denied??
