I am having problems entering Avoozl's name on the squid stone runes in Quest for Glory IV, playing with ScummVM. In particular, I cannot find a way to enter two "Os" in a row. When I click on a letter already lit up in red, the letter just blinks but the dial doesn't spin around.

I know that this puzzle has had problems caused by the speed of modern computers. I saw an earlier post about reducing processor speed on DOSBox. Is there are way to do so on ScummVM as well?

BTW, this problem is NOT being caused by a conflict with Ashlancer's patch. I checked the game on ScummVM without the patch installed and had the same problem.
The dial doesn't need to spin around to count, simply clicking on it a second time works.

And don't worry, that one confused me for YEARS before I finally figured it out. The dial only moves when selecting a new letter.
Unfortunately, it's not working. I click a second time on the O; the letter blinks but when I click on the Z and the L, the squid stone doesn't open.

Another thing: clicking on the correct letters sometimes doesn't spin the dial to the correct letter. It goes to another letter (which doesn't light up red) and I have to click on the correct letter again to get the dial to go there.
How quickly are you clicking on the letters? Too fast and the game doesn't seem to be able to process it quite right.

You're right. I also discovered that the common online instructions of "AVVOOOZZLL" is one letter incorrect. It has one "Z" too many. The correct order on modern computers is "AVVOOOZLL." Clicking an extra "Z" was what was throwing it off.

So by combining the two I managed to complete the puzzle and finish the game. Thanks.
