The objective is getting 500 points. Here are the links to the individual classes. I would love to see more people speedrunning this game.

Game 4.
What saddens me is that my ability to watch your speed runs is severely hampered by the fact I have not 100% finished Quest For Glory IV, V and Heroine's Quest and I don't want to spoil myself some of the puzzles.

But keep 'em coming! It is always a pleasure to watch you run those games or goof around for faster death/worst hero, and I am glad to see you added 100% runs to your roster as well. If you ever do 100% runs of the first game, I'm fairly sure it is possible to get a score of 504 out of 500 in the remake. I don't know which action rewards that 4 extra point but whenever I replays that game as a fighter with magic, stealth and lock picking, and collect all the points of all three classes, I always end up with four extra points.

I've heard about this, and I do have a lot of the routing completed for Magic-User and Thief for QFG1VGA 100%. I have not actually made any attempts other than problem solving some hiccups I anticipate along the way.

What scares me more than anything is FIGHTING EVERY MONSTER. That's an RNG nightmare... in particular, certain monsters spawn at certain EXP levels. If you miss them, they're virtually gone forever, from my understanding.
Ah, Fighter 100% speedruns are easily a pain in the ass.

And what sucks about the first game is that you HAVE to fight a Cheetaur and a Troll in order to get the claws and beard, which ALL classes need to do to get 100%

We know that Goblins always spawn at the Goblin Training Grounds, but even then, it may be faster to just fight one you come across (because you have to interact with the bush to get them to fight in the first place and it's a bit picky about when it'll let you fight - you probably need to trigger the goblin to start moving after you in the bush.)

Brigands always spawn in one or two of the screens past the secret entrance but before the ambush. Once you reach a certain experience level (probably... 1000, I think?) then at night, these brigands are replaced with trolls.

After 1000 experience, the Cheetaur and Manta start spawning during the day, and the Saurus Rex starts spawning - also at any time of day.

I think the only monster that spawns exclusively during the day is the Saurus, and they're a fairly common encounter so long as you're actually looking for them - which is hard to do when you have the speed turned up because you can move to the next screen before they actually appear on screen.

So basically, the regular Saurus is really the only one that you *might* need to fight before reaching 1000 experience.

I'm curious; have there been any low% speedruns (which would likely mean beat the game with the lowest number of points) of these games done? (Yes, this does mean that you may have to go out of your way to avoid earning points.)

I call this the "Worst Hero Ever%" for QFG1VGA. It's definitely the lowest score you can get, unless someone finds more ways to lose points. Also, using glitches, these are the fastest, which naturally entail some of the lowest number of things which are actually doable.

If you are looking for the lowest points without glitches, try this one for QFG1VGA, particularly the Thief Any% and the Fighter Any% because they manage to complete the main quest and still win legimately: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLjK4P8EdMoqNsJOSAySdHVMAzRU2KO-5u

Of course, one of the tricks is getting 1000 experience in a timely manner, because when you're not a thief who has several spots where he can grind stuff like climbing (which you can't take on a marathon 100% for Fighter because you need to be able to learn Climbing from a book in 4) and lockpicking (which means having to buy a lockpick as a Fighter since even if you have the skill, you don't start with it) then you're gonna have to work hard to get up to that point.

I almost wonder if getting the chainmail ASAP would be beneficial for the Fighter, since the first game is the game where all characters are most likely to die in combat. ESPECIALLY if you decide to play the EGA game which I think the Coles said the combat was too simple and difficult.

Last night I watched the marathon run of Quest For Glory I to III that you did at RPG Limit Break, with the excellent commentary by Corey and Lori, and having to stop just as you were about to start the fourth game out of fear of spoilers... Man, you have no idea. As soon I'm done with Freddy Pharkas I'm definitely firing up Quest For Glory IV to finish it once and for all and catch up with your runs and the Coles' commentary.

Also, congrats on crashing their site with that huge influx of traffic!

Here you go. We were playing to raise money for NAMI, and the Coles came along for developer commentary, and it was glorious. I had a ton of fun, and the Coles were so personable. It was fantastic.

During the run, we crashed the Hero-U site thanks to all of the viewers who went to take a look. :D

Thanks, that's so cool! What made you choose the QfG2 remake over the original EGA version, btw? Is it faster/easier to speedrun? Or so that all of the games would be point 'n' click and in VGA resolution?

Continuity of VGA graphics and overall speed. Raseir is a time sink in the EGA version of the game, because you can't skip waiting until night. In the VGA version this is easy, and takes QFG2 from a 20 minute or so game down to a 15 minute game.

But that came with another problem during importing from QFG1VGA. If you do the skip glitch to exit the Brigand Leader's room, you only start QFG2 with 3 Gold to convert. In EGA, the sell beard glitch handles that no problem. In the VGA remake, I needed to get clever to get the necessary money to properly save the world.

If someone can find a skip in Raseir in the EGA version, it would the Holy Grail of this series... possibly even more than the QFG5 mega warp.

Watching this run makes me wonder a few things:

1. What does Luck do? In particular, what are the consequences of having -600 Luck?
2. Do any stats behave oddly when not in the 0 to 100 range?
3. Is it possible to start the game with 0 or negative health? If so, how long does it take for the game to decide that you're dead, and what death message do you get?
