Spit: So, I'm once again replaying all Quest for Glory games, and wanted to play QFG2 AGD remade version. I've had no issues with the game - ever. I played it on the same computer, same system. But now I've got a weird problem. The graphics seem to be force-interpolated or something. The only way to get rid of it is to force windowed mode (which is not satisfactory to me unfortunately). Also the game seems to be slowing down badly. I've never encountered this earlier on, what might be the issue? Any help would be much appreciated.
bliznik: Some of your issues may be resolved the quickest by downloading ScummVM (
https://www.scummvm.org/) and playing it using their engine. There is one bug regarding playing a Wizard if you want to play the Optional game with Keapon Laffin. If you win that game, ScummVM can crash. This game is completely optional as a Wizard though, and doesn't award you any extra points, as it's a game that AGD added.
If you want to play it without any bugs, you may need to do a little more work.
Regarding graphics, I believe that you can resolve that using the graphics configuration option.
Regarding speed, you may be able to resolve it by executing the executable via Windows 7 compatibility mode.
Another option is to update the executable. The QFG2 AGD remake was made over a decade ago. Since then, the engine that they used to make this version, Adventure Game Studio, has been updated many times over, and has less bugs with modern operating systems. You can update the executable by going to Adventure Game Studio (
https://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/) and downloading, then installing their latest version.
Then you can grab the "acwin.exe" file from there. Copy it into your QFG2 directory, and use that executable to run the game.
If you want to setup graphics options, you'll need to go to the Command prompt and run "acwin --setup" to do graphics configuration with that executable.
Thanks for your reply. The issue is, I've played the game on this system and did not alter any config options...
Ok So I got the pixelated graphics to work, however I'm having problems with the game speed. The thing is the game speed does not change regardless of messing around with the speed slider in the game menu. I mean, something is gettiing very wrong with the game.
