tomexplodes: Supposedly, the GOG version doesn't require quicktime so that's no help (not to mention antiquated at this point), my Media player (on windows 11) tells me they're cvid encoded and there's nothing I can do about that. I am running the game with the ddraw found here:
https://github.com/narzoul/DDrawCompat because it won't run at all (memory error 0 I believe) without it, and DgVoodoo makes the mouse cursor gigantic.
Anyone have any idea how to get video on the cutscenes on windows 11?
PraetorianWolfie: I don't know if this helps at all, but on mine (an old E5420 Dell Laptop running Windows 11 version 22H2), I've installed the game from the GOG installer (offline version "2.1.0.34"), in a custom folder on my "e" drive.
Launching the game for the first time, Windows prompted me that a "feature" called DirectPlay had to be installed, at which point I confirmed that it should proceed with installing that feature. It did, and then the game launched ok, with videos playing fine.
I did not use any extra app to run or patch the game.
Yeah, I already have DirectPlay installed on my machine. I run it out of C:\Games\QFGGames\ But thank you for trying! If I run the game without the compatibility ddraw, it crashes immediately with "Memory exception 0". Like I say, I get audio, but no video on cutscenes. I've also tried using DgVoodoo without forcing a resoultion and the mov files still have no video.
I thought maybe it was because I was playing it on my 4K TV, but my brother also does that and no issue, and on my small laptop screen it still won't work properly. There's a disconnect between the game and my laptop I feel, but I sure wish I knew what it was. Might just have to copy the folder over to my windows XP laptop and play it there.
