I know I can import a QFG1 save into the QFG2 remake, but can I export a save from the QF2 remake into QFG3? Has anyone carried a save all the way over through to QFG5 this way?

Yep it works just fine :)
However, realize any extra spells or unique abilities (made for the game) will not transfer from the remake to later games.

Also realize that the remake is not very good. Pacing is way off due to the heavily modified combat, and has made a three hour game a fifteen hour game, and, in my opinion anyway, ruined it. It takes far to long to develop a character's fighting stats.
Doesn't really have anything to do with what I asked, but OK.
Personally I'd recommend a play of the remake after you have played the original. If you have already played the original (and if you are a long time fan, you probably already have), definitely give it a try.
