Zachski: For the record, I've been playing Quest for Glory for about 20 years now, and I'm *STILL* discovering new things about the games.

mrprmiller: I actually just discovered a new skip in QFG4 today. It's significant enough for more to do an entirely new set of Any% runs. And while I'm at it, I'm just going to get the 100% routes done.
Alright then - I'm definitely looking forward to it! Maybe you can get a faster time than puri?

I'm a little curious about the skip you found but this is probably not the topic for it.

@Geist

Fair point. Although...

Honestly, as long as you own the games, you'll probably come back and play them several times. Replayability is pretty high. Four classes means you have four ways to experience the game (with the fifth game's Fighter finally being unique and distinct from Paladin), and on top of that, there's being able to make yourself a hybrid character.

Some people play through the games aiming to max all of their stats and skills. Others go through as minimally as possible. Some do speed runs. Others might spend as much time as the game will allow them to have.

QFG offers you a surprising amount of freedom for an adventure game. And in all honesty, no two playthroughs are truly the same.

My Wizard estimate should be about 40 minutes. ;) But that's all I'll say for now. :D

mrprmiller: This is one of the reasons I mount an A drive, actually. I mount the A drive as the directory for Quest for Glory 5 import directory, so that way I don't have to worry about the directory and everything runs smoothly for importing during my speedruns.

I CAN give you a nice little set of instructions that will making saving imported characters a little easier. Follow these instructions.

1. Create a directory on the C (system) root. For my example, I'll call the directory "QFGSAVE." I like using short, 8 character or less names because it makes DOSBox a little easier to manage. It can be anywhere, but I use the root drive for simplicity in this example.

2. Open up the DOSBox config for EACH game, except for QFG5 (dosboxQG3_single.conf).

3. Add the following line right before it says "C:" - "mount A C:\QFGSAVE"

4. You will need to do this in each game file

5. Quest for Glory expects floppy drives during saves, but doesn't expect floppy drives during importing. When you go to import your character, you will have to change the directory it is looking during importing to "A:.."

The nice thing is that you'll know where your import files are when you exit DOSBox, because they are right there in QFGSAVE. You'll have to manually copy to the QFG5\IMPORTS directory (or whatever its called during install). That's why I mount A as the QFG5 Imports directory, which skips another step.

Happy gaming. Hope it helps.
This works great. Thanks for the help!
