Anyone know any programs that can extract the files from QFG5?

I've been wanting to see if I could find the subtitle text, and look for anything that might be in the files that didn't make it into the game proper.

Best I can tell the data is kept in files known as "*.spk" in the data folder.

I tried things like 'universal extractor' but it isnt' able to recognize the file.

At least with the first four games you can use "SciViewer", but QFG5 uses a completely different file format.
Hi there,

I have actually looked into this myself, I have been interesting in modding the game on and off for a while now and have made some progress on extracting files and modifying character skins.

I contacted Watto, the creator of Game Extractor (http://www.watto.org/extract/info.html) about the SPK files and he made a quick plugin for his software that allows the extraction of the game's files. I can email or host this somewhere for you later.

I recently discovered a Portuguese translation patch, which may give some clues as to where the subtitles etc are located. As far as features yet to be implemented, bow use is implemented but there is no animation for it. It would be awesome to fully implement this, but I don't have the time or knowledge.

I would be happy to share with you what knowledge I have on the game's files/models/skins/etc.

Thanks,
Robert

GMFattay:
So I don't know if your software has been changed but its now not showing up all the QGM files I think. I believe there are two sets one might be hidden. One thing I've noticed Is GOG release is different than the original CD release, and is apparently defaulting to a different script set than the original CD does.

But if I use your extractor its only pulling up the files from the original cd release and not whatever GOG is accessing.

In the past I'm pretty sure I was able to pull up both sets, and it was part of what I used to make a script for the game.
