Are there any differences between the EGA and VGA versions of Quest for Glory 1 besides graphics? The reason I ask is because I know there were changes between the original and remake versions of Police Quest 1.

And there's some info about version differences in the final section here http://hardcoregaming101.net/questforglory/questforglory.htm

Wow, it's going to be hard for me to choose between the two versions. You've certainly answered my question though.
I still like the EGA version more.

One thing I would like to add is that you don't need to type "look at" for everything. You can click with the right mouse button on the screen.
Once the QFG pack is installed, there is a launch icon on your desktop for the VGA version of QFG1. But I want to run the EGA version. So I go in the EGA folder, run install, then run the game via the SCIV file. I can't get any music, though, unless it's just the PC speaker. Can anyone tell me hoe to appropriately launch the game a la QFG1 VGA and QFG2?

The EGA version should be launchable from your start menu
One thing about the VGA version is that it removed a room from the original version in the Troll Cave. But it also added extra or improved upon story elements from the original as well, in one case making a reference to a certain artifact in such a way that it had more direct ties into the series as a whole. There is also some forshadowing 'easter eggs' referencing characters, places, or events in later games, or simply the future games themselves. These references are mainly up to the third game or so (as that was the last previous game released when the remake was made). But a few foreshadowed QFG5 as well (and were utilized by fifth game).

The VGA version gives names for some of the characters, that were nameless in the original.

Also there are certain jokes and humor you can only get in the original since you can 'type' various commands, that simply don't exist in the remake. Trying 'cussing' for example!

Both versions have different sets of easter eggs, so keep a look out for that ;) (hint check out the lake and entrance room in Erasmus mansion or castle)
