As you may have noticed, Quake® Enhanced (updated and visually enhanced version of the original) is available on Steam since Aug 19th. We're in talks with the publisher and have their confirmation that the GOG version of the update is currently being finalised, and will be available on GOG.COM. We'll be sure to let you know when that happens.
GOG users who already own Quake will automatically receive the new enhanced version with a free download.

What about the re-release of Doom1 & 2?
Perfect news!
Will the original and the enhanced version be separate downloads (offline installers)?
Thanks a lot!
Ah, finally a good new on these issues!

Let's hope the enhanced version on GoG has no DRM or online login shenanigans.

And that we get compatibility for the new Machine Games chapter on QuakeSpasm Spiked.
Hey o/

Really good news!
Thank you so much for this. I am already looking forward to it :)

How huge is the chance it'll happen already later today so we can enjoy the weekend blasting Ogres and Shamblers into pieces?

Neurus_Ex: ... or online login shenanigans.
Don't see a problem here, meanwhile it does not affect to single player game.
Many games here on GOG have online login. I prefer this to a cut/only single player version.
Enchanced version only requires online login into bethesda account for online multiplayer

I don't really care about multiplyer (I'm at that point in life in which if I were to play online, I would play on a private server with friends), but my main "fear" here is that a login is needed for single player, and how much data is gathering Bethesda from our playing time (As I've read somewhere else that the EULA talks about it).

I would settle for an update to QuakeSpasm Spiked to make the new campaign (and the updated Dimensions Of THe Past) compatible and some way to port the plugins, models and sounds, as I like to keep my installations as simple as possible.
Cool. I just bought Quake on GoG (already had it on Steam).

I suggest making the GoG store page for Quake a bit clearer that it includes the original Quake. When I saw "Quake: The Offering", I wondered if that was some stand-alone expansion pack. I see no description on the store page detailing that it includes the original Quake and two expansion packs. I found that information by doing an online search.

I notice that the store page says that Quake: The Offering includes the two map packs, in the last paragraph on the page, but it doesn't say that the original game is included. But I recommend stating that the package includes the original game and two expansion packs clearly on the store page, such as with bullet points.
will we still be able to download the currently available version of quake after enhanced version is available?

Probably not so I recommend saving yourself a copy of that version in case you want to play some custom stuff like AD. From what I've heard so far the new one comes bundled with the original version though and you can then pick wich one you want to launch.
Nice. Thanks for the update.

GOG Quake Army can stand down. :D
Nice!
Will wait for the update to play it.
