By "all the content", what exactly are you referring to? Maps, music, skins, expansions, what?

I know that the GOG version has the CD music for Quake 1 and Quake 2 which are missing from the Steam version, and Q1+2 come with all the official expansions. Q1 doesn't have Abyss of Pandemonium, though, which was semi-official, but I don't think the Steam one has that either. It is freely available on the internet though as it was re-released for free download.
The Steam version has no music!

GOG version it is then. Thanks for informing me about Abyss of Pandemonium.

I want the full Quake adventure/experience.
For Quake1 Then you just need the Gog version with Abyss Of Pandemonium with its music.

I was thinking to make a thread with all the extra (fanmade) episodes with a strong id quake feeling...

That would be great.

You can begin with:

Quake condensed,
Dig01,
Deathmatch Classics 3,
Coven of Ebony,
and of course
Beyond belief.

Some of this maps might need to be patched for transparent water. Use hmap2.

its literally a few minutes of tweaking to get the music and everything else patched back into the steam version of the game, so its not like much of a hassle.
