notrandom: Project Zomboid Build 39 was released, Any news on when GOG will get updated?
I'd like to know as well. I'm seriously regretting my purchase of GOG titles if carry-over is this slow from STEAM. If it's updated on Steam, it should be updated here, simple as that.
it'll be released to GoG once we're sure we won't have to patch it. The update process for GoG is just longer than Steam, so having to do several rapid patches in quick succession gets rather taxing.

So far the build's been going over really well on Steam, so it should it'll be quicker than previous releases.

Oh come on! Sorry, but you pretty much copy&paste the same (similar) answer every time anyone asks for IWBUMS or new release, you are doing this for two years already since PZ was released on GOG ... and nothing ever gets done. At least have the decency to add to the store description "you are being tricked into buying inferior version that has content access significantly delayed"
I mean, why would you expect it to change?

GoG's not Steam in terms of convenience. It requires manual validation and repackaging of updates (as far as I'm aware), in addition to coordinating the upload of any update with GoG's team. It can be a long, frustrating experience that takes time away from other tasks, so it's only done when it has to be done once.

We're looking at automating the upload itself of each OS in the future, but that system is not in place yet, so it's of no help.

Edit: Sorry, I realize I'm being bitchy here. I know it's unfair that Steam gets the build first. It's just that we've had some pretty turbulent releases over the years that would have necessitated quite a few patches. With myself and Sasha handling QA, in addition to our volunteer testers, perhaps we won't be so gunshy in the future, but for this release, we're erring on the side of caution.

between all this complaining I'd like to say that I am very thankfully to have this game on GOG. Of course it is frustrating to wait for the updates - let it be game updates or news updates - but I can imagine that working on PZ is a full time job and I am thankful that someone is doing it so we have a quite bugfree version - sooner or later.

BUT maybe a hint that IWBUMS isn't possible with the GOG version for now would be a good idea? I can understand that one is frustrated when he has to rebuy it on steam to have IWBUMS though it was anounced for GOG a few times already.

Nevertheless, I hope you guys keep doing and supply us GOG users with further new content. Even if we have to wait a bit longer for the polished versions.
I've been walked through the process for uploading to GoG and pushed Build 39.66.3 this morning. We should now be waiting on GoG's testing and feedback before it's made available for download.

We can always look at the news items or updating the store (or perhaps making it clearer on the forum).

OK, GOG sucks in this regard, almost every game on GOG that is receiving any updates (be it in development or patches) lags far behind Steam version. And no one seems to be willing to use the GOG beta branch channels. So I believe you when you say that uploading stuff on GOG is long and frustrating experience. But that doesn't change the fact that you very well know that compared to Steam the GOG version is vastly inferior (major releases delayed by weeks, IWBUMS not available at all) and anyone who expects feature parity between Steam and GOG will be sorely disappointed. And there is absolutely no way to find this information when buying PZ on GOG. Even on Indiestone forums when you know exactly what you are looking for it is pretty hard to find. So please, put some simple warning about IWBUMS not being available for GOG into the store description.

Oh, and please look at the FAQ topic and change the "how often do you release updates" section, because the entire part about updates is for Steam users only and is absolutely misleading when it comes to GOG version of the game, to the point of it being deliberate lie.

Devil's Advocate, considering I asked for the same thing after the initial GoG launch:

But you already know GoG is a tradeoff between convenience for privacy and a lack of DRM. Anyone that shops on GoG should know this already, just as those that shop Early Access titles on Steam should know they're not buying a preorder. I know this doesn't stop mistakes or aspirations from over-riding common sense, but does it really need to be made explicate on GoG's storefront? Do other games on GoG do this?

Having it on the store page that you should buy it from another platform just seems like a bit of an unnecessary dick move.

As to modifying the FAQ:

I also don't have any ability to edit people's posts (or even sticky them) on GoG. So I can't fix any issues with the forum or its contents.

How long does it usually take to complete the verification process at GOG? hours? days? weeks?

It's not the duration of the verification process that's the issue, it's the fact that it had to be verified by hand in the first place.
According to a GOG friend, we might not have to go through that process for future Windows and Mac builds, though.

What happens with this verification by hand? Is there a human employee of GOG looking at the source code?

Generally checking if the build works, as well as that it poses no security risks, I'd assume.
According to GOG updating at least the Galaxy version is just as easy as updating on Steam. The extra verification they do afterwards is to add the update to the downloadable installer version.

Doesn't mirror our experience.
It's currently awaiting approval, from what I'm told. The conversation we had was that once this is out, we can publish updates to the master branch as they come without waiting for approval.
