From what I have read it has around 4 hours of playtime and I am trying to understand why is it selling for $25 ?

The value is in the community-made maps and campaigns. Original Doom was pretty short too, even if you count the 4th episode that was released later on, the value is in maps made by the players.

It definitely takes longer (7–12 hours depending on difficulty and if you care for secret hunting).
