I've been unsuccessful in getting beyond this step. Installation of Big Race USA works fine, but when I try to launch the game, I get a box named BRUSA with no text in it; all I can do is click OK, and then the program ends.
I'm running Windows XP SP3 on a Dell Latitude D630 with up-to-date video drivers. And the GoG Pro Pinball Timeshock runs just peachy.
I've tried all the following:
- redownloading the installer
- uninstalling/reinstalling the program
- running the program in Win 95 compatibility mode
- Running in 640x480
- installing the program in Win 95 compatibility mode
No dice. Any advice? I've been looking forward to this one, but I'm not sure what I'm missing. Thanks!

Here's a screen of the mysterious box. The app is running on the taskbar below, but it quits when I click OK on this box.

I'm getting the same error. Any resolution?
Well, the support guys still haven't gotten back to me, has anyone found a solution to this yet? Bought the game for my GF and she has as of yet to be able to play. Was this just a waste of $6?

I have tried a bunch of things and not found a resolution, no. I'm comforted to know it's not just me. :) On my main desktop, the game works, but not on the laptop, for which it was actually bought. (GOG games are great on business trips -- beats working!) So I'm hoping it might be a graphics driver issue that can be resolved.
I'm up for trying anyone's suggestions, though.
I've done the same, but changing the resolution doesn't seem to fix it. Wonder whats going on behind the scenes. Good to know the other pinball game works though :)
You mention trying to run it in windows 95 compatibility did you also try windows 98 and the other ones?
If you have or that doesn't work could you post the system specs or dxdiag of the systems the game fails to run on?

I have tried the Win98 compatibility too. I will get the dxdiag info and hopefully that might offer a lead -- thanks for the suggestion.
Okay....I don't have a solution yet, but I do have more data, and I have an interesting update -- I now have TWO machines that exhibit this same behavior. The DXDIAG text file dumps for both machines are here:
http://bunnyears.net/gog
For the Dell Latitude D630 (the original problem child), I did a fresh video driver update, redownloaded the GOG package from the site, and reinstalled the game today just to be sure -- same issues. None of the compatibility modes worked.
The new machine is an ASUS EEE PC 900A netbook that I just upgraded with 2GB of RAM and a larger SSD so I could install Win 7 RC. It works great...but wouldn't you know it, same exact problem.
Both machines are portables with Intel graphics chipsets in them. However, both run Timeshock and Fantastic Journey quite well. In fact, the netbook runs Fantastic Journey astonishingly well, better than any other game I've tried on it so far. And for the record, my quad-core desktop does not have this problem with Big Race USA.
If the DirectX data gives anybody any clues, I would certainly be grateful. Seeing FJ run so well really baffles me.
I have the same problem. Fantastic Jurney worked just fine.
This has to be the most useless pop-up window in al times.. BRUSA [OK]

Can anyone take a look at that DirectX data and suggest a course of action? I'm really sad that I cannot run this game on the hardware for which it was bought...OR the alternate hardware I've bought since! I know it's got to be something...
We have recently uploaded an updated version of the Big Race USA installer, which works great on the computer we were able to recreate the problem on. Anyone who has experienced this problem please redownload the game and reinstall it. Contact Support if the problem persists and attach a DXDiag file

Thank you! I can confirm that it runs on the same hardware...but I have since upgraded to Windows 7, so that may be it too. Either way, it runs and I am thrilled to play it again! Thank you for looking into a solution!
