I'll be copy/pasting my review in the forums so anyone thinking about buying any of these games in the future can look it up here, so many reviews in GOG give 5 star to just about everything.

Marchhare also has a good description about the problems with Fantastic Journey in his GOG review.

I got this game in the recent sale after buying Big Race USA first. Pro Pinball Big Race USA is leagues better than Fantastic Journey(more like The Journey to the Drain). You can't just be flipping the ball for points, fun or for just a casual pinball experience. Ramps are too steep (even when slopes are set to the lowest) if the ball doesn't climb ramps (any ramps in the table) completely there is a VERY high chance it will be dead on its way back, especially for the spinner ramp an the one next to it to the right.

Review:
There are so many areas in Fantastic Journey where the ball will just fall dead untouched by the flippers, I do not recommend it to anyone who isn't willing to learn skillful shots and good accuracy.

The first skill shot I had to learned was how to get the ball to the other flipper when I have it trapped. You will learn this because of determination and even then your next shot after trapping or "trapping then get it to the next flipper" will have to be precise.

The spinner ramp and the one to its right side are "dead ball candy" areas. Also the immediate left side of the spinner with three letters...there are multiple angles when the ball hits it it will go dead.

It's amazing how opinions can differ so completely over the various Pro Pinball tables. Your complaints about Fantastic Journey are my complaints about Big Race USA; so we each prefer the other table, but for the exact same reasons!

In another thread I wrote:
Big Race USA is fun, but I fail to deal with its propensity for draining down the centre. That annoyed me in the demo all those years ago (this was the reason I never bought the game at that point, in fact), and it frustrates me still. I mostly like the table otherwise, but unless the air bag is up it's just too punishing for me to get very far at all. Also, the video mode is disappointingly dull.

Fantastic Journey seems to have been designed in part to combat my biggest problem with BRUSA. It brings back the centre pin and magnosave features I liked in Timeshock, and then adds an additional 'ball rescue' feature (which is not always available) for the other side drain, and it even kicks off a temporary 'ball saved' safety net when you trigger certain gameplay features, so that you are guaranteed a certain amount of play time for it. Most importantly, though, the table design is simply much much less prone to dropping the ball down the middle!

I hate Fantastic Journey too, but I don't want to, because it sounds a lot better than Big Race which is a rather boring theme for pinball.

Those ramps and orbits in FJ are nearly impossible to reach. I'd have better luck at Timeshock's explorations, of which I've only beaten Channel Tunnel.
