The game runs fine but I need a wrapper to fit the screen properly (1920x1080). I used dgvoodoo like I've done for Tomb Raider and Max Payne but while gameplay looks alright, the FMV cutscenes don't appear and the audio plays over a black screen. It doesn't matter if what the resolution is set to nor what the other settings are. So long as dgvoodoo is in the folder, the cutscenes have this bug. Removing the wrapper files from the folder restores the cutscenes but puts me back to square 1 with the huge black bars on either side of the screen and the gates become opaque again.

This bug is so frustrating! I want to play the game in my native resolution without the non transparent gates bug.

What the hell is going on and how do I fix this?

I use 0.2.1. version of DDRawCompat for this and it works, transparant gates and vids will play. Some guy said in another thread one should use experimental version of that wrapper, but that didn't work out for me. Applied WINXPSP3 compatibility setting to the POP3d.exe , otherwise videos play jerky.

For proper widescreen I just modded the options.sav file for fitting 1920x1080. Just exchange two entries depending on which resolution you chose before

For 640x480 you will have 02 80 and 01 E0
For 1024x768 you will have 04 00 and 03 00

Find them and exchange them by hex editor to 07 80 and 04 38 for 1920x1080.

If that doesn't work for some reason: The newest version of Peixoto's multi-patch is beginning to support a number of new games, among those POP3D. Maybe talk to the developer if he can help out. For me, it didn't work because it still had issues with framerate drops, but maybe the patch will implement further and more advanced fixes in the future.

It's at Vogon's site. Not sure if I can post a link here.

I don't have any hex editors nor know how to use them. Let alone remembering my hex from Computer Systems Architecture class back in 2016. For the widescreen, I found the ready made resolution sav files on the unoficial website which seem to work and show the videos, I just need to try the DDRawCompat version you suggested, as the one I tried didn't fix the gates. (I used the latest version just below experimental)

The resolutions are here as is a link to DDRaw. https://www.popuw.com/download3.html

EDIT: The DDRawCompat version I tried was actually the one you suggested but I didn't see the version number the first time. It didn't work. I'll try the multipatch.

EDIT 2: Nothing Pexioto's patch didn't even run the game after setting the path as the injector thinks there is "no target supplied" even though I directed the application setup to the game's executable like it asked.

Yeah, Peixoto's patch didn't do anything about my problems with that game either at the moment, it miay do that in the future, the new fixes are just a few days old.

DDrawcompat seems only to do its job on certain setups, it seems. Sorry, I can't help you then other than suggesting to the dgvoodoo devs to implement better video support or to bother Peixoto to advance his fix power for that game in the future.

That's OK. I asked Psychedelic Eyeball how he managed to do it on his January POP 3D stream and he gave me the solution just a few minutes ago: I run it in a window with dgvoodoo. To that I also found that method only works if I disable the application controlled fullscreen/windows state and leave the alt+enter toggle on so I can tab out to watch the movies when they play. Even though Psyche was right.

You were still very helpful anyway and I appreciate it. Not all of my help threads on GOG or even Steam for that matter go noticed. (mostly GOG if I remember right)
